Gareth Morgan will never get near my pussy!

    Meowwwww!

I could live without a cat, we kind of stole a couple of our neighbours cats. We feed and de-flea them but stop short of neutering them cause well... they aint our cats and only visit from time to time lol but seems their owners can't/don't even de-flea them so doubtful they neuter them too.

I think all cats should be neutered to keep the numbers down and they should only be able to be bought from certain places where they are bred. But that's probably extreme for some people and it would end up being expensive, no more free kitties. But to pretty much get rid of ALL domestic cats? ridiculous. Cats give so much love and attention and lots of people, especially the elderly, rely on them for companionship, something to look after because shit, they probably don't have anyone who comes to see them anyway apart from their kitty cat! It would be a sad day...

I wouldn't be sad about that. Just being honest. I would be sad about the little old lady sitting at home who doesn't have anything or anyone except her little kitty that brings her so much joy and companionship. So many elderly rely on animals such as cats for companionship, it's sad but it's true. Even younger people that also have nobody in their lives do too. I have more empathy for the sad, lonely old (or young?) people then I do those birds, sorry.

I would be, but I'm struggling to see how the current topic will have any affect on that outcome. Just the standard waffly arguments making a mountain out of some anecdotal molehills with no relevant bearing on the real world

    I was beginning to wonder,

We have a problem with mice, rats, rabbits and you can still buy them from a pet shop WTF up with that.

Cats are just the topic of the day because GM wants his face in the news, and like most other things fuck all will change.

I guess he is going to "help" the nation by providing bells for every feline in the country? Or will you have to register your moggy, and a portion of that fee will go into a fund called "POTO - Pussies Own The Options"?
Yep, though I think his hobby is winding people up.

Providing bells for cats would probably be a viable option. However, he doesn't offer to do that and let's face it he can afford it. He would rather be a dick and cause people grief.

Naaa ... that won't stop them hunting (just decreases the chances of killing) .. and increases the cfhances of the little hunters getting hooked up on collars and hanging themselves ... or sitting down and yelling late at night because they are hung up .. that will please the neighbours ...

I've seen cats with bells that are very adept at tucking the bell inside the collar so it makes a gentle rattle instead of a ringing. They do the weirdest shit...

Had one that worked out how to flick them off with her thumbclaw (or whatever the fuck its called). Another one just though he was fabulous and developed a jaunty walk to make more noise; he was fucking perplexed when it first went on though

They are "wired" to hunt tandemB, it probably wouldn't be possible to change that without DNA modification.

Like humans, can't stop them being humans, but there are ways to decrease the chances of them killing etc.

So why ban cats when they have more of a purpose to us than rabbits?
