    CAMS Meeting 26 January 2013

CAMS like to start the day early and the gate was to open at 8AM so my plan was to get there at the time. It's a 250 km drive through the mountains from my place in Greymouth to Ruapuna. It was 5:28am when I headed out the driveway, I arrived at Ruapuna at 7:58am.
Man did my van use some juice to get there, Toyota Estima Supercharged 2.4lt petrol = slurp when giving it the sausage. $90 when I filled up to head home in the evening.

Anyway, the weather was great, apart from the wind blowing dust in your face, but at least it was a tail wind down the main straight.
Ended up having 2 practices and 5 races for the day. I'm a piss poor starter and get left behind on the main straight (must shed some pies one day) so not really a great fan of full track on the bucket. But in the last race of the day, which was a Bucket and 150/250 class combined I had a hoot trying to pass a young lass on a RG150 and Aaron on a FXR150 (who was parked up next to me in the pits, nice to meet you Aaron).

Thanks CAMS for putting on a great event.

Cool. Wish I was there. My bucket build has been very slow to date. Hope it's ready for Methven
Sometimes you wish it was easier, but if it was, everyone else would do it, then you remember you don't want to be like everybody else!

...good to see you over for the day Muzza...you riders must have been cooking in them leathers...good day of racing had by all, I hope...I was really happy to see a big field of 63 and 72 bikes there...the pre89 cup F2 race had to be my hi-light of the day...Scout Fletcher and Neil Batchelor's battle was pretty monumental...thanks to all riders for coming along and having a safe day of racing...CAMS gives away bugger all cups and trophies for racing but the Pre 89 Cup day is proving to be a really hotly contested day and one of our real good days...

Pre 89 F1 winner was Brent McConnell

    F2 Scout Fletcher

    F3 Scout Fletcher

    ...thanks for the entertainment...
