(I decided not to use the one of an actual crucification)

Christianity wants to take over the world (nearly succeeded .. )

How is it different ? (Oh yeah .. Moslems remember that Christian Knights (Crusaders) killed and ate Moslems ... They remember Christians as Cannibals ... which is why they freaked out when Geo W BUsh declared a "New Cursade" .. they though "Here come the cannibals to eat us again ...")

What could be worse than being eaten - and "we" did it to "them" ... wouldn't you want to kill off the cannibals too .. How would YOU be willing to treat the cannibals who ate your folks?
Just waiting for the bit where you mention Christian blowing themselves to Kingdom Come and taking dozens of innocents with them...

The IRA blew up a few innocent people in what was basically a christian war. Catholics against Prodestants, with a bit of politics thrown in as well.

It just never used to be so widely broadcasted for all and sundry to see.

Nutters are an issue for sure, but the media who portrays them as these center of attention is what I find most questionable.

Call me old fashioned, but I do believe impressionable young minds ( or slightly disturbed ones to begin with) viewing this can only have a negative effect, being portrayed as it is as a worthy scene of gruesome delight.

Anyway, I'll go back in my hermit cave now.
+1 on that, the theme for quite some time now with online and increasingly televised media seems to be about pushing the boundrys of shock and misinformation.

Apart from the already mentioned Irish Troubles ... here's a very few specific examples

Tsar Alexander the second of Russia was kileld in a suicide bomb attack ...

Andrew Kehoe killed his wife, and 43 other people (including 38 children), and injuring 58 people by setting off bombs in the Bath School Disaster. Kehoe detonating dynamite in his truck, causing an explosion which killed several other people and wounded more. He had earlier set off incendiary devices in his house and farm, destroying all the buildings, as well as two horses and other animals.

RUdolf Gersdorff planned a suice bomb attack against Hitler ... (he failed)

Timothy McVeigh - Oklahoma Bomber - not a suicide mission - but a similar technique - killed 168 people and destroyed 0r damaged 324 buildings

Terd Kaczynski - the Unabomber - again, not a suicide bomer - but rssponsible for several explosions and a number of deaths ...

Haymarket Square - Chicago 1886 - bomb thrown into a crowed square - several killed

1970 - Wisconsin University bombed in Vietam War protest (One killed I think)

Here's one you weil like - in 2010 a man flew a smal plane into a building in Austin Texas . it was the IRS buiding ad he was pissed at the Inland Revenue people ..

There's a huge number more ... suicide and terrorism is not the preserve of Islamic radicals ... they just happen to eb in the news right now ... and there have been many mass shootings, especially in America .. but Andres Breivick (Norway) would be a good example of a political mass murder - he just didn't suicide or get shot ..

How do we know that other mass shootings are not politically motivated? We write them off as "crazies" .. maybe the thought that these are political actions is too scarey?

Haha...I suppose you could deduce that form my statement, yes. The guy was and, as far as I know still is, a complete and utter waste of space.

All those terrorist attacks which were executed by non snackbarists were isolated incidents. Jihad is a world wide movement involving millions of people. An increasingly common phenomenon, known as "sudden jihad syndrome" is sweeping across the world, in which seemingly ordinary Muslims suddenly get the urge to start snackbaring with little, if any warning. This often has devastating events, such as what was witnessed during the Arab Spring movement.

The context of the situation is different. Read my post again about the scale of the attacks.

Any guesses as to how many people were killed in the Spanish inquisition?
