Dave Moss at AFC motorcycles in Palmerston North, 29 January, 6-8pm

    Hi everyone,

First event of the trip is tonight as the title shows. You can simply show up without your bike and learn a great deal on road or dirt bikes. Sport quads can be included too! $50 for the seminar. If you want your bike adjusted, there may be some spots left so call AFC to sign up. There will be an extensive question and answer session after the seminar to make sure you have all your questions answered!

I look forward to meeting a lot of riders tonight and we will post pictures and feedback from the event by tomorrow morning!

    afc seminar

A good night had by all with bikes being worked on as well. We covered the following topics for dirt and road bikes plus several others:

    - setting sag and how to do it
    - progressive and linear springs and top out springs
    - chassis balance with rebound damping (dirt and road completely different)
    - weight transfer
    - stiction, greasing fork seals, fork and shock oil service intervals
    - tyre circumferences, compounds, carcasses and geometry
    - chain tension, lube and adjust
    - fluid servicing

Thanks to all those that attended and thank you to AFC for putting the event on. Feedback from the event is provided:

    Philipp
"Great and approachable guy giving a good start into a basic understanding of motorcycle suspension."

    Daniel
"Dave approaches a very technical topic in a very straight forward way. The seminar has got me thinking about apspects of bike set up that I can try the next time on my bike."

    Alistair
"Very interesting and great to see a technical topic brought to us by someone that knows what he is saying and can communicate it!"

    Blair
"Great evening tonight! Thank you Dave & Sam. I will have to come back & get my bike because it sure wasn't my bike I rode home on! The dark art seems much lighter now. See you at the Moto TT TrackDay"

    John
"Great seminar, very informative. Won't pretend to have taken it all in but learned a fair amount all the same I think, thanks Dave for making the trip to New Zealand to help educate us, cheers!"

    Hey,

Yes was a awesome evening, shame you missed this night, but we are looking at having another one in the next week, (maybe) Dave is off to Dunedin tomorrow then returns to head to Taupo for track days, see track day threads for info, Honda day and PMCC, he then is in Wellington/Hastings/CHCH for more seminars,(you are more than welcome to attend these in Wellington, (Motorad 4th feb/red baronm 14/15 feb) then back to PN for track day set ups.

SO at these days you can just rock up, don't have to ride track day to have set ups done on bike, or you can book track day and get set up done as well, just PM me if interested.

I will also be postign up a new thread soon with an idea for Manfield, keep an eye out.
