A vague and information deprived post like this should go on Facebook.

Is this what you mean, Scummie? I always thought Mike was a bit of a spinner but thought he was in the timber processing industry?

Sadly you're correct - after after some uncertainty and worry etc for him a few months ago I thought he was OK but not so it seems...

Yeah, hard times, but Summit's been tottering for years. Maybe Canterbury Spinners will need some human capital to go with the plant they've acquired.

I recall a thread last year about there being "trouble at mill" and I clealry wrongly assumed it was a timber mill.

Bugger, after the year that was 2012 (with all the added walking) for 98' this is a punch to the gut I'm sure.

Cheers T,it had to come i guess.Good news is someone bought the plant and methinks they didnt shell out for something to do so if you ignore all the media bullshit its all quite positive really. The redundancy package is ok to.No point in hanging the head tis just a hiccup.Vicky starts work elsewhere on the 1st of March which is handyMight ask if i could see out the summer somewhere on the bike living high on the hog up the lakes with a tab at the Kurow pub would be great but i dont fancy me chances. All good mate and thanks for thinking of us.

My commiserations too Mike and best of luck. I remember the mill (Alliance?) when I was at Waitaki Boys many years ago, used to bike past it often.

Cheers O,not from Oamaru myself so not caught up in the local emotion stuff the media seems hell bent on,for my money many are more focused on the woe is me shit rather than taking a breath and thinking with the head instead of the heart, lifes a game of cards mate one bad hand matters little. After many years roaming about doing everything from dropping trees to poncing about in a suit and tie driving a company car i called in here and ended up staying and working in a bloody wollen millwhen i all those years ago sat down with the lady that did the hiring etc and gave her my cv she laughed and said "according to this you should be running a place like this".Funny old thing life and as ive got somewhat soft and complacent this is simply a welcome challenge.
