not too sure but if some one were to ask me what's a Mazda sports car I would say an rx7/8 not a mx5

'Cause they are just machines, albeit good machines. They do nothing to put a smile on your face, have no sense of occasion and ultimately leave you unsatisfied.

The last MX5 I saw had a bald old man driving it sipping on a cup of takeaway coffee and wearing raybans, and I recall this because he changed lanes without looking (guess he was too busy thinking about how cool he imagined himself to be, or his boyfriend's cock). It was also white. Couldn't possibly have been you, could it Ed? And I didn't even notice the seat covers, they're real manly

You are so full of shit. Even a competent rider on a 250 would keep up with you fine.

I'd like to see that. Bikes just don't go around corners as fast as cars (generally speaking). An MX5 is a very good handling car (in comparison to most other road cars), and it would take a very competent rider on a good bike to out corner an MX5 driven by a good driver on a tight, twisty mountain road.

I'd still rather have a decent sports bike though.

PS. Re: Seat covers. The car is Mrs. Bear's and if she wants those seat covers in it she is perfectly entitled to have them.

I'm neither bald nor wear RayBans and have never had the car in Wgtn.

That's the sort of logic that made it the great sales success it was,,,along with Hondas 50cc scooter being the best selling bike of all time.

Unfortunately it totaly misses the fact sportscars and motorcycles are not about the money.

It's also where the logic behind the old joke about fat women being like scooters came from.

Take the money out of the question and suddenly Honda scooters and MX5's become,,,,not so much.

Even if they were fun before your mates saw you,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I tried to have some fun twice on the 600 with an Audi and a Porsche 911. I nearly lost it keeping up with the Audi on one corner and just gave up on the Porsche. Fat feet and four wheel drive corner a lot faster. Not so much of a problem on straights or hills although the Porsche was as quick as me there too. I had to let him go in the end before I did something stupid and died.

The MX5 has bigger and wider sports tyres and the smaller steering wheel sharpens the steering. It corners like a Limpet and you'd be amazed how good it is. As I said, you don't slow down for corners, you gas it to maintain your speed against the drag.

I usually find "the average rider" farking slow on windy roads. Ok bikes get off the mark quickly but they are very slow in the corners, espcially going into the corners.

That's where you're wrong. It wasn't sold as a cheap car, seen the price of new? It sold millions because it was a proper sports car that did what people wanted.

Yup! The Kizashi is nearly as quick around corners and "most" riders are very slow out there. Only the KB select few are good...
