    Bucket exhausts?

So we know an exhaust for a bucket needs to be three things (to most of us):
    1 Cheap
2 Quiet enough to not piss off the idiots who choose to live near race tracks
3 Not so restrictive that it hinders performance

Is there somewhere that bucket racers are getting mufflers which I don't know about?
I've tried trademe, a local wrecker and I'm only coming up with really expensive items or ones which are massively long, litre bike style.

I need to quieten down this FXR of mine for the NI rounds and I'm currently facing dead ends. Am I destined to troll trademe forever?

I put a KXF 250 dirt bike muffler on mine. $50 off trade me, I did have to pick it up in whanganui and then play pass the parcel with it though. 250 four stroke dirt bike mufflers should come up often enough. I've also butchered the stock mufflers in the past, heavy but not as restrictive as you might think.
    Stock is best

Near gutted standard muffler won't work with that motor. Had the same effect as trying to run the airbox with the lid on.
Big volume muffler connected to that mega then run up the side of the bike but ... it'll be a custom made to fit number.
Try grantnz on kiwibiker for ideas, he quitened his mega down nicely.

I just built a 2 stroke one, I just used an aluminium tube and made the rest out of steel, the end caps are a bit shit but I'll get them better next time.

I managed to get my hands on a bit of perforated sheet that I rolled up for the centre, that was good as it saved me hours in front of the drillpress!

I don't know what places sell Aluminium in Auckland but down here one can rock up to Ullrich and buy an appropriate sized bit of pipe for not too much.

The one I was using before was a cut down RGV250 road one which works well but is very heavy.

On the FXR I made one from a spare VFR400 Header and an old muffler that a mate had gave me, he obtained it with a pile of spares when he bought a racebike.

Across those 3 exhausts I must have spent around $10...

EDIT: $30, I shelled out for some flash packing as it was recommended to me.

There is another thread, research that, but general idea is lots of volume in an ally body.
