I am a "Jap slapper" from way back before modern "sport" versions ruined "martial arts"( god how I hate that term!), we would occasionaly cross train with some local amateur boxers, their rules, very hard work.

The ONLY boxing worth watching is amateur boxing at just above club level and at international tournaments ( Olympics, Commonwealth ect) where credibility is being built and the boxers have not yet been corrupted.

The SBW vs Both fight has already been scripted and will play out reasonably close to the requirements of the controling money interests, my opinion is that Botha will not be allowed to smash SBW to bits over a number of rounds, the "pretty boy leagie" has much better long term money spinning potential. SBW will be conservative and tag and run, Botha will swing vicious but miss a lot and get tired, as per his orders on the day.

What really pisses me off, is Botha is tough and experienced enough to take hits from SBW all night and just keep grinding him down with the low body shots untill late in the match he finally starts to bring SBW's hands down, then you will see SBW's true colours, when he finds himself outmatched, like all bullies, he will crumble and the referee will wind up stopping the fight, and there will be blood on the floor

I hope I am wrong, and this fight is not corrupted already.

I do appreciate real boxing, but not this malarky. I just like it when we're allowed to use legs, because it's much cooler.

To be able to kick effectively your body is back over the centre point of balance and that takes the power out of your punching, swings and roundabouts I guess!

"Jap slap" was a wind up... I did karate for a few years when I lived in Wellington (John Jarvis and Leo Donnelly, and Willy Young taught me). I injured my hip and took up mountain biking to rehabilitate it then never quite got back into it.

I would watch this SBW vs Botha: if it was free. other than that I will stick with youtube of actual fighters. I posted up some videos of Lucia Rijker a while back

Say what you want but I wouldn't get in the ring with either of them....

Not a huge fan of fight sports but regardless of that they are both pretty decent athletes. The don king style bs around boxing is what really puts me off...

Thai Boxing > MMA > Boxing

That is my opinion. Don't particularly enjoy the ground work in MMA because I can't fully appreciate what they do having never tried it. Boxing is just boring as hell to watch unless the fighters are between 60 and 80kg.

I think the best fights and fighters are around the 75kg mark.

Whatever you do ... "don't grow up" ... I tried it once, respectability asks too much and supports dishonesty and fuckwits!

My wife likes things kept simple so I just fitted right on in and I like pretty things too!

I'll take that advice on board. No sign of any grown-up-ness yet anyway

Did a lot of boxing when younger upto nationals finals level - personally I do not believe SBW has the footwork to tag and run, he appears to flat footed and to square on. Also what I have seen from him he will start dropping his gloves probably from round 3-4 onwards.

Boxing is one of the hardest sports and the nervous tension before and at the start of a fight can make jellymeat out of the tougest guys and thats where experience helps.

    It will be interesting!!!
