yeah, agree with that. Wonder if it was the way they divided into cylinders of air, even if they were interconnected, rather than just one big slab. And you could use them as floatation devices

For camping... we were using the Warehouse ones which were OK but we were mystified by the wet spot that both developed after a couple of nights. Turns out that that is caused by the sleeping bag pulling moisture away from the body (as per design) and it wicking into the matress fabric. Dry sleeping bag ... moist matress top. Had to go online to get the answer to that one.

Anyway, we've gone to camp stretchers now and put a self inflating matress on them. Much more comfy and much easier to get in and out of than a blow up bed. ALtso means you can store stuff under the bed which leaves more room for walking around. (Remember this is all in a camping scenario)

We have one of the blue ones from the warehouse, on about the third one now but usually get a few years out of them before they get dumped.

An old thermal backed curtain underneath works good to stop the cold from creeping upwards during the night.

Well I'm a fan of camp stretchers meself but miss vicki likes a double so...

Seems to be a universal issue. Cheapies are a pig in a poke and the double thickness ones are best.

another vote for the warehouse intex brand. often on sale for half price as well.

Exped Synmat , not cheap but real compact for biking , strong , insulated so even when tenting in snow ground chill is not a problem, has it's own built in pump. Way better than those self inflating Thermarest jobbies . Available at Bivouac & worth the extra IMHO.
The wife & I use 2 & zip our sleeping bags together , not perfect but it works well enough. Guess who always ends up sleeping on the join, funny that.

I survived 3 months solid on a double layered queen sized airbed brought from Mitre 10 Mega and it still goes well... they're a tad more expensive than the warehouse ones but worth it... i think i payed around $160 for it and they still sell them...
