Dean Martin Show, Andy Williams, Carol Burnett, that was G television when I was a kid.

Did you have the early Aussie Police shows over there? Homicide and Division 4 et al?

The King of Cool, what a guy! His drunken act was so believeable and loveable, no one realised it was an act for the longest time [the glass of 'booze' held in his hand onstage was anything but]; like when his first song of the show started and he'd be standing there looking around sleepily and after 30 seconds, asks "Am I on?".

In his TV show, he'd often have the ciggy in his hand because he never knew what to do with his hands, so the cigarette helped overcome the awkwardness. He also never read music, but just sang by ear and sang so well like he'd already known a song that what you heard is often the first recording.
