Anyone made their own bandanna using polymers for absorbing water?

So I'm thinking of importing some of these

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-lbs-Medium...item4164b80afb

and make a couple of these

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/ZanHeadgear-...e&var=&vxp=mtr

    Has anyone tried this?

Wasn't a bit of a cricketing fad a few years ago to stand and look 'cool' (pun untended) whilst wearing one of them around ones neck?

yup made them 20 odd years ago. I used the water retention crystals that go in pot plants . didnt like them, they just kept my skin wet and and it got irritated, a bit like a babies butt being in a wet nappy all the time.

No need to import, Switched on Gardener hasCrystal rain

My mum went nuts and made like 30 of these, was very nice, kept my neck cool for a good 20 minutes, then I took it off when the water had heated up to body temp and was just hot, let it sit in the fridge for 10 mins then back on. They stay wet for days, but wet doesn't always mean cool. Also left a weird gel feel on my skin. Maybe several layers of cotton would improve it?
