Yep, that was done on purpose as to not distract the riders in anyway. They were not supposed to be noticed and that must have worked!
You may have also noticed that even the marshalls wearing hi-viz came to a complete standstill as bikes came past during a race if they'd had any need to move anywhere through the infield during this time.

I would like to offer my deepest congratulations and thanks to the Victoria Motorcycle Club crew, the core team and all of the volunteers, helpers, marshalls and others that made Round 5 of NZSBK 2013 THE best motorcycle race meeting I have ever been to in NZ since I started racing in 1990.
Clearly the weather contributed to making everything run smoothly, but if the organisation was not so good, it could have turned to custard regardless.
I have been getting a bit jaded with mediocre events lately, but my faith has been restored.
There are so many things that are done behind the scenes that make things run smoothly of which many other organisations MUST take note. (On-line entries, on-line entrant lists, in-feild rapid response quads etc etc etc).
I really hope that the Motorcycling Australia and FIM blokes were as impressed as I was.
Oh, and please get back the two blokes that commenated the 125GP races, they rocked!
Thanks to everyone!

I have always said that photographers should ideally be in camo gear. I fully support that low-viz approach and praise VMCC for that initiative. I think it should be standard for all clubs and tracks - even for buckets.

I must also take back my comment:
"I'm watching on CTAS.co.nz - don't see many photographers around the track! Bad call by VMCC."
Maybe the 5-6 photographers were well camouflaged.
I still think that 2 more photographers keen to be there, "craignzcd" and myself, would have made a small contribution to the promotion and long term enjoyment of the sport. 5-6 on a long track is a bit shy IMHO.

Well done to the VMCC team, prob the best run event I can remember
he wins and best run event , like your style..........lol
Hey Damien, from up in the control tower 5-6 were more than enough, we had to give them time to cross and at one point one of them even got a lift with a quad, also you have to keep watching them and get the flaggies to move them along or at least hold the races till they are safe. At the end of the day Skunk and co run an excellent meeting and part of this is because they keep distractions and time wasting to a minimum so I understand why they had a limit.![]()
