Bush is saying he wants to put a man on mars. One step in a long term plan to hopefully colonise the red planet.

Could certainly use the room but what's the real plan? Martian oil perhaps?

It's not about oil, it's never about oil.
Dubya has seen War Of The Worlds and realises that Mars is a threat to the US.
The best defence is to spread freedom, democracy and the free market to the ordinary Martian.

well apparently they are going to use global warming to teraform mars. this uses carbon dioxide to build up an atmosphere that traps heat therefore melting the caps.

we were going to put industry on mars to solve to probelms but america decided that bush produced enough gas to do it himself

To introduce democracy and capitalism of course... same as Iraq...

It's a pity you can't actually have democracy AND capitalism in the same place due to them being fundamentally opposite philosophies...
