That looks brand new compared to the Whananaki bridge. Be sure and check it out though. Even if you only walk to the centre.

What an absolutely perfect way to spend a Saturday...
Whananaki is a stunning place..ended up having a swim at Otamure Bay just over the hill.
Walked across the longest foot bridge ever...had a burger and chips at the store/camp ground.
I now know the location of the next L's Angels over nighter...the camp ground can well accommodate us. Nice under cover eating erea, it has a pool, motel units/cabins with the takeaway shop at the front

Pics to follow...Otamure Bay is well worth taking your clothes off for
Thanks to Carmel for joing us, cheers ears, always a pleasure.

Fab ride. What a glorious day. Whananaki is a little hidden gem of a place. Pity the tide was out I could have plopped myself in the tide when we arrived no danger. Had a really yummy Chicken Burger, such a treat.

Went for a walk on that bridge, goes up really high

Still it has good rails so I could not fall off it Def not a bridge to ride over, very narrow and no bike egress at the southern end

    Had to check

Really needed that swim at Otamure Bay, what a stunning place! We seriously have no real idea how fortunate we are to live in paradise like we do.

Had a great ride home, apart from having to deal with white van man being a complete twat. I was doing *cough 140* and still along side him. He had to break for the vehicle in front of him so I got past. This from the wanker that was travelling at 80-90kph and then going so fast on overtaking lanes no one could get past

All in all a fantastic day. Great weather, fabulous company Can not wait to go back there for a proper stay.

I can vouch for that. That's where I stayed. The cabin was very comfortable and spacious.

The road into Whananaki is 24kms of corners....an absolute blinder of a road, patch seal on parts of it yesterday but that should all good by the time we go back.

We went ready for the heat yesterday, even took sunblock (didn't use it though) and I coped some sun...wa wa me!
One thing I learned...never leave your gear on the ground. We thought it a good idea to leave it in the shade when we went for the swim..
Ants! thought it was good idea also...
