I see the wind has gone from the sails of indignance. Billy must have carple tunnel from replying to everyone's emails.
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"
Bowls can wait !
The thread was removed for very good reason and I agree it should have gone.
Yeah....naaah. There was actually some reasonable discussion going on, and awareness within the racing community was being raised. If some posts crossed the line (whatever that is) delete said posts, don't remove the whole thread.
I'm out at work at the moment, listening/watching to Australian radio/TV and this was one of the stories last night:

Timely much?
Many perceive lack of communication as a major problem within our sport and I don't believe stifling discussion helps. We seem to have to learn things individually rather than collectively.
Examples:
Vic Club of late has learned tragic lessons with riders not maintaining race pace, now highlighting the issue every meeting, yet down South I found myself on track with a rider trickling around for several laps with his hand up. I only found out later (no heads up given as I went out) he was allowed out to bed in a set brakes.
I also found myself lapping a slower rider in just 5 lap race, and he spoke to me after wards. His engine had twice cut out. He pulled off track each time, where he managed to restart, so pulled back on and resumed racing. Once, I can sorta understand, but twice?! I hate to think what would have happened if we'd come up on him as his engine died again, or as he pulled off/on track.
Nothing against these guys, they didn't know any different, which is my point. Awareness. Only way we become aware is by threads like the one that has been deleted. We don't get anything from MNZ except when they wish to tell us about awards for their website. Bugger the awards, communicate about some worthwhile stuff.
I suspect your chum with the intermittent breakdown fault either did know different, or is stone deaf.
The MNZ steward made himself perfectly clear at the briefing.
