Helmet rules

Hi all
Im starting racing in the next clubmans race at hampton, ive done a eap of trackdays and im ready to have a go, my only question is hemet rules, ive read through the rules on this site and mcnz and my helmet has a 'e11' tag and a date stamp but its the other stamps/stickers that are the issue, the numbers the rule books quote are no where to be seen on my helmet, its an agv k3 rossi rep, are some helmets no good to race in? Surely an agv would be fine? Is there a list of helmets you can use?

Any help would be fantastic

I am going to try to make the same move as you, but with my motard.
From what i have read your helmet should be fine as long as there are no defects in it and less than ten
years old.

Did we share a shed at the last Honda day? I was on the CBR600RR (white with green nose) running as a triple.

It think it might be 5 years but if it isn't too old and hasn't been smashed it should be all G.

Yeah, i just dont wanna spend all that money just to be turned away for not having a number on my lid... I cant see why i wouldnt be ok, a guy at boyds said only three helmets they sell can be used in racing, the cheapest being $650.00 i find that hard to believe so i wanna do some research first....

Ive joined amcc and organising race license now, hoping to get in on the club day on the 7th of april.

There can be a sticker on the rear of the outside of the helmet that says snell, also if u pull back Te lining on the inside of the padding there is sometimes a sticker there. Really depends on the helmet.

You will need a pair of decent leather gloves, proper motorcycle leather boots,A one piece or two piece zip together set of leathers with no holes in them (damaged bits through the leather)You must wear a back protector of approved type--most modern back protectors are fine. They are fussy about helmets -Your helmet must fit you correctly , Must have one of the current internationally standards approved stickers in or on it. COMPETITION HELMET STANDARDS: All new helmets available in New Zealand are manufactured overseas. These are made to various standards. The following standards acceptable for helmets for use in RACE events:
Road & Off Road AS/NZS 1698:2006,
Road Europe ECE 22-04 or 22-05, ‘P’
Japan JIS T 8133 : 2000
USA SNELL M 2000 or M 2005
Only helmets of single shell construction are permitted for road racing events. Two piece or flip top helmets may be used for have-a-go or track introduction days. Must be totally undamaged-Some minor scuffing on the paint is ok but no chips through the jellcoat will be accepted.

Ive pulled out linings cant find any of these numbers, it does say 'e11' which is mentioned in the mcnz site as meaning 'europe' and its got the build date. There are some numbers on the strap, no of which are even close to these here.

Are you aware that if you get your MNZ race license now it will run out in a few months and you have to renew/pay
for a new one. Or you should be able to get a one event license on the day.
I will probably be doing this and entering on the day as work will make it tight to pay all the fees upfront and
not be able to show up. Will have to check with AMCC to make sure this will be ok.

Yeah i did see that, apparently we need to check that they are offering day license at the event
I read this the otherday...

"If this racing thing is something you're not sure of then a DAY licence MAY be an option A day licence is just that--rock up with all your bike gear and bike ( as below) Buy a licence for the day and race but word of warning - Automatic availablity of DAY licences ceased in 2002 SO - call the club running the event. and confirm they do do day licences"

I'm sure the AGV will be fine, the e-11 indicates that it matches the european standard.

your stamp is most likely a ECE 05 rating helmet, the european standard which is the most popular sold in NZ,

the E11 circle you have seen stands for what country it was registered in,

it will have a serial number below that, which will start with 05, meaning it is ECE 05 Standard

I can sort of make out an 05 number, its very hard to read, (worn off) will that be an issue for race officials? Helmets three years old, but the tag is in a sill place that has almost totally rubbed it off.

ece standards are normally sewn in on the straps, and its not unusual for them to rub some numbers off, as long as they are visiable then it should not be an issue,
