    I do...
I have been on contact with the seller. The bike has an unknown service history and 66000 on the clock so I'm a little weary. I am weighing up offering to pay for a mechanic to check it out.

Not easy when your as impulsive as I am lol. Once I have my heart set on something that's it!
I'm hoping one or two come out of the woodwork through kiwibiker as it would be good to have a choice of more than 1 in the country.
    Cheers for the link!

Why the 400? That is a real oddball bike in NZ.

Have you considered the 650? Far more going for it, with plenty of spares here.

I don't have a full licence is one reason. The 400 just scrapes in (as long as you weigh it wet).

Also I kinda like that its oddball.
I was doing a little reading, apparently the 650 was never released domestically in Japan. They just have the 400. They are basically the same bike, only the engine is bored out on the 650. So following that logic there should a fair few interchangeable parts.
Does concern me a little though... haven't found an English manual fr it yet.

I was under the impression the 650 was LAMS approved.

Nah, they just brought out a lams "de-tuned" version.
When I spend over 10k on a bike, I want to have the full (licence) range of options, it wont be on anything de-tuned.

My good man I do believe you are mistaken. I tried to have the SV400 added to the LAMS list. It's already been denied I'm afraid to say. If you are trying to buy the bike to ride on your L/R license you will be very surprised should a cop pull you over

Heres my SV400. Got about 19000 on clock. Still on original chain and possibly brake pads. I'm second NZ owner and have service history from previous owner etc.

There are a few decent LAMS 400s around.
    Here are a few http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Sear...ch_suggested=0

That FZR 400 looks the business.
