    Keyboards?

I do a bit of keyboard work & I'm possibly looking at a new keyboard (the 1 I have now isn't great).
What are people's recommendations? This is work, so no need for over the top gaming ones. Preferably I'd like low profile keys, the Apple keyboard is a good start for the sorta thing I'm after I think so any recommendations/endorsements along those lines would be good

So what ones are worth looking at?

If you're a programmer, you might like Das Keyboard (come in the ultimate edition with black keys which is nice, no choice but to touch type). Definitely checkout elitekeyboards, many different actuator types which is nice if you have a preference, their Leopold stuff is nice. I prefer an ergo board, so I'm using an MS Ergo 4000 (second one), but some people just can't get on with them.

Steelseries are worth a look to... bit of gamer wank on them, but nice to use.

Make sure it as a key for each letter of the alphabet, a few number keys and sometimes the ;:/-= keys come in handy for smilies...

I am using an old convex MS ergo which is so old it still has a cable. I like it a lot and it has been very reliable. I dont like the new MS ergo ones which are concave.

MS Sidewinder X4. It has backlit keys and is a nice keyboard to type on.

Das Keyboard Ultimate would be bad... I'm not a touch typer (or a programmer) I just spend alot of time using a keyboard for work so want something nice/comfortable to use given it's my main tool for the job

like above, functional alone just isn't enough

Backlit's a waste of time for this instance. It'll only ever be used under the soft glow of fluorescent lighting

that's a really personal thing. i like my lenovo keyboard, i dislike HP keyboards. i like my Z board, a also like a G15 (one with weighted keys and infinite rollover, i think it's the g15)

but yeah, only real way to tell is to do some tapping on some keyboards, it's a tactile thing, and if you're doing it all the doo da day ee, you'll want the right thing.

    -edit-
i hate those ergo keyboards with a split spacebar. if you feel the need, buy a gel strip mat bizo to rest your wrists on. better, get am attractive blonde secretary to do all your typing.

the apple 180$ jobbies are nice, too...

Got a Logitech Wave, which is ergonomic, nice and positive key movement, but about 4mm to press which maybe more than you want.

Wired vs wireless preference is also worth considering, wired stuff is harder to get these days which I don't really understand.
