was thinking one picture one message, and message from someone special, eg family as i believed was mentioned earlier.
keep it simple. and so it does not clog things up on the memorial wall.

The dead aren't going to care..

if it brings comfort to the living to do this then i'm in favour of it..

personally, would prefer no crosses or other faith-specific emblems

perhaps SpankMe could run a poll and canvas majority opinion?

I've been thinking about this one for a while and I don't think it's a good idea.

I just don't think that it's appropriate to have a wall of remembrance on the KB site. It is always ok to hear about people's accidents, recoveries, or even death, but I think that remembrance is more of a personal or private thing.

I'm not sure that I would like to have my details recorded on any site if I were to be killed whilst riding. I'd really rather that people remembered me for how I was when I was alive.

I hear ya - but I think we have a good combination in here that would stop that happening.

    1) We're a small crowd - the shit stirrers are known and I think there is enough respect in here to minimise that problem
    2) We've got some pretty onto it Admins who take a reasonable approach to offensive posts. We've had afew - and they've been pulled.
    3) We have asuper admin who can dictate the terms regardless of what anyone else thinks or cares.

I'm confident the final content of that board could be locked down sufficiently but if it risks turning to custard for any reason - no is the time to talk about it. Cheers Mikey

I'm with Big Dave and Spank, I don't think a memorial is a good idea at all.
If you knew the departed bikers, you will remember them.

So where are we with this?

Sounds like we need a poll. Is it possible to e-mail all the users for this and give the results enough time to get in?

If done well and not in everybodies face, I am all for it. For me, it is a way of showing you repects, rather than just trying to remember a rider forever.

For those who are not, if it put as a link or thread, then you don't have to read it if you don't want to.

As for young/new riders being put off, it is important that they are realistic about the risks of riding (and driving for that matter). Personally I feel that if you are not aware of those risks then you should stay off the road.

Ooh, and please don't use crosses unless it is by the request of Family/Close friends. There many riders here with many different beliefs.

Added a RIP page to the memberlist. To have someone moved there, send wari or myself a PM. They will need to have a profile picture to be listed.

Wont have time to add options like the abilitiy for members to leave comments and stufff until after I have completed the vB3.5 upgrade.

    Yes, thanks.
I think it could be a nice way to be remembered.

    thanks spank,
the choice is upto the user to visit that page or not.
it's nice to remember the ones whom have past on.
i feel its also a good wake up to us all out there. lately there have been to many passing on via bikes from this site or not.
so please be careful and watch out for those idiots.

    Bump

After this weekend's awful events and seeing how it has affected so many people, I really think that we should look at a more prominent Memorial page for our fallen fellow KBers. Just a thought. Maybe Spank, see what the consensus is amongst KB about this. Time does heel, people do forget and we should never forget these wonderful people.

Seconded. But not a postable page.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
