Isn't the old saying: Happy wife - Happy life

Of course there are exceptions to every rule and some have experienced the exact opposite, so let's get that out of the way first.

Generally, though, married men were happier than single men. Both men and women enjoyed a more fulfilling life, with less stress in a marriage.

Contrary to the urban myth, married men, ( and thereby women..), had much more frequent sex and more satisfying sex than single men and those married longer, into middle and old age, had more satisfying sex than younger couples. He said that while young, single men often boasted about their free and easy sex lives the truth was somewhat different, with sex being rare and often lacking in satisfication due to being snatched, brief and in inconvenient places and times. There's a problem with that??

So while marriage has its challenges, it is generally good for you and you can usually expect to be happier and better off.

Now, let's wait for the barrage of naysayers...
    Silly studies.
I thought individual happiness was dependent on one's self; Including environment, relationships, passion (work, hobbies or, whatever..) the immediate situation (ie, internal or external situations can change happiness, in a blink of an eye...) and most importantly - self worth.

I would've thought happiness itself has nothing to do with being married or single and I can vouch for both, I suppose as could almost anyone of a certain age!
FYI some of the best and loyal friends and times, have been with openly gay mates! (Since the thread's gone there, already!)

Achievement is not always success while reputed failure often is. It is honest endeavor, persistent effort to do the best possible under any and all circumstances.

    "If Mama ain't happy..."

You can certainly over-analyse studies as this thread demonstrates admirably. The study was a general one of an over-view of interviews on happiness and found that generally, not exclusively, that married men were happier over-all than single men.

Is that like saying we are generally happier when it's sunny? lol. I would think a mark of happiness constantly moves, regardless of marital status!

And we come back to "Why did you put up this thread/topic?"
What was your point, since the whole thing is GENERALLY and SPECIFICALLY pointless. Did we gain anything? Did we go away thinking "Wow, that edbear fellow is a breathe of fresh air in a dull world?" Or did we learn something to improve our everyday humdrum lives?
I suspect that the answer/s are, generally speaking, "No."
But of course, I haven't done any real research into the whole answer-thing...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Issues? Moi? Clearly my first comment didn't tickle your funny bone...or your reading skills. It was the ladyboy that guaranteed happines/appiness/ a penis and quantified it. BTW the correct ironic phrase would be "Bugger being a fag"

So far I've been fortunate to be with the same person for 33 years and married for some of them. There could be somewhere out there that could make me happier, but I'm very risk averse

OMG...so the Toronto Blue Jays are an American team. Didn's they win back to back world series?

Your point being ??? I was not responding to your posts with that one ... was I?

Not a bad comparison, really. Studies show people are generally happier in Summer...

Context, juxtaposition and 2 posters "defined" positions regarding homosoexuality and the quantification of an emotion in formal psychology research. Well it worked for me.

Just showing a quote suggesting I'm sad if I equate sex with happiness, followed by a quote extolling your celebration of your sexuality within a thread about research linking happiness and marriage. And I'll post what I want, where I want, when I want. If you don't like it....and to quote your earlier post that I responded to .... well fuck it ... I don't give a shit ..
