    New Biker, service help

Hi everyone, Loving the bike and the everyday experience of riding one !

Got my self an oldie though lol

its a Yamaha 1986 fzr250 but goes well.

Looking to get it service as I am not sure when it was last serviced (as i bought it from a friend who told me he serviced it a "while" ago lol)..

I live near Sylvia park in Auckland (mt wellington)

If anyone can please let me know of a good place to get it serviced

I tried emailing haldanes twice but no reply

Redbaron told me to try Toby in West auckland but hes booked out for the next 2 weeks.

Any help / guidance would be appreciated !

    Thanks

AND he'll come to you at home, at work, wherever...

That would depend on what you want done. And ... what (he finds ???) your bike NEEDS done. (Not always the same thing)

At a shop, I'd say you'd be lucky to get change from 600 bucks. Some people have a bit of trouble balancing carbs on a V4 (dunno why, maybe they should put the hammers down and read what Honda says)

    As for servicing the FZR
It depends how much coinage you have but,
    I'd recommend to start with:
Oil/oil filter, airfilter, fuel filter, plugs on the engine. A general suspension check over, brakes and wheel/steering bearings too.
If anything is noted with susp, fresh oil and seals/bushes. Rear shock is probably a throw away one
    New brake fluid and pads
New steering head and wheel bearings
    Chain/sprockets if needed

Pretty much covers the simple/basic shit.
    Then, valve clearance check
If the clearances are within spec, balance the carbs, if not, out with the shims and calculator, then balance the carbs, set the floats/pilot screws etc.
Do a skid, blow the clutch

Price for all that? Well, depends on your mechanic...

Your motor has a removable sump plate.

Take it off and you will probably find a large amount of sludge sitting in it.
