Checking forks for bending or damage?

i had a bit of a mishap on my drz400 involving a hidden log yesterday while riding on the sand at red rocks in welly ...bike stopped i kept going etc . apart from bent handle bars and damaged ego my forks seem to be fine and are compressing and decompressing ok but i'm still a bit worried as it was a fair impact . is there a way to check if they're out of shape or have been damaged that's not visible to the naked eye so to speak
    cheers

roll them on a flat bench or check about 8 axis points with a straight edge.

take the front wheel out and loosen a fork at a time, rotate it in the triple tree with a datum set up on the lower fork leg, if that moves then it's bent

take the wheel off, loosen the triple clamps, then rotate each fork leg. it will be painfully obvious if they are bent.

2 straight edges (say a meter long) across the fork stanchions, as far apart as possible (down the length of the fork), will show any triple clamp induced twist too. You'll probably want to check for bend and twist I'd think, just to be sure.
