    Met anyone famous?

Ever met a celebrity and been disappointed or have a good story to share?

I met Nigel Mansell at a Grandmasters Grand Prix test day. He barely said a word to anyone and fell asleep in between blasting his car around the track for celebrities and investors. Emerson Fittipaldi and Jean Alesi were there as well and they were very chatty as were Maxi Jazz and Chris Harris.

I chatted briefly with Nick Mason at Goodwood Festival of Speed and he was quite friendly. Kate Moss and Amy Winehouse aren’t (or wasn't in AW's case) but that’s another story…

Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Richard Daley, Maurice Cheeks, Ben Lummis, Chris Knox, Cayton Caley, Avery Brooks, Goodnight Nurse, few others that I cant remember (which would indicate they arent famous but they used to be).

Worked at Graeme Crosby's house for a couple of days, his good wife Helen made a coffee and we chatted about suspension on CB1300 of all things, oh and the IOM.
Caught up with at the Deli in the local New World a few months later, we were both on 'choosing tea' duties...Took my Yamaha out to his place so could give it the once over, apparently the suspesion is ok...go figure!

    ....oh and Dave Dobbyn.

Met Aarron Slight having a few beers at Wanaganui, he is mates with a guy I know. He was nice. Quiet, said thanks when I told him I was a fan when he was racing. Spoke to him for a few minutes and left him to it.

Years ago as kids a friend and I were extras in a NZ comedy. A couple of very well known NZ'ers starred in this show and my friend and I followed one of them during lunch break when he went off for a quiet walk. It was my first introduction to marijuana (well we guessed later on that's what he was doing, at the time it looked like he was really enjoying a roll-your-own).

    And that's about it.

The US ambassador to NZ. I became a minor celebrity in Twizel for 15 minutes 20 years back for catching a huge trout in the Ohau river where it flowed into Lake Ruataniwha. She and her husband were visiting work, heard the story and wanted to meet me.

Worked with Ngaio Marsh a couple of times when I was a student at Canterbury. She produced a couple of plays for dramasoc. Most impressive lady. Went to an after show party at her house and got to meet her enormous cat. Biggest goddam cat I ever saw.

Did some computer stuff for Sitiveni Rabuka (when he was still running Fiji).

When he remembered my name on the second day, I thought: "that's a politician".
