Will they listen?

Given that AMCC has anounced they will not be able to run Bike events at Pukekohe. I wonder if the track owners will listen now their wallets will definitely be affected? I wonder if the car clubs running open wheelers will take the same stance.
The way I see it is that the ONLY way to get their attention is to hit them where it hurts-In the pocket.
Yep Im aware that it is to a degree a forced decision due to MNZ not being prepared to issue a permit for the track how it is.But IMO its the right decision by both MNZ and AMCC.
Personally I like the other changes that have been made to the place except whats happened on"the hill" and the armco on the corner after the hairpin
What do you guys think?

I'm sad to see Pukekohe "go", but the have clearly made a decision on what they want to use the club. On the plus side, Hampton Downs will now be more viable.

My Personal opinion is that i love riding at puke and will continue to do so at the cotrolled test days, i don't see how it is any different now that the wall has moved around 1 metre closer to the track given that the grass that was there before the wall didn't exactly slow you down very much (if at all), and yes i know the risks and have (to many times) seen the results of people coming off over the hill and straight into the wall, but like i say i will still be riding there every chance i get.

I would love the AMCC to move to Hampton Downs.
I prefer the track and like the viewing spots for spectating.
I would attend the AMCC training days at Hampton but not interested in Pukekohe.
Hope they can do a deal with the track.

The grass allowed enough space to put in protective temporary barriers - which they used to do.

That's correct however the majority of crashes that i have seen there have ended with the unfortunate effect of the rider sliding under the milk bottle bales and into the wall anyway.

(just a note: i'm not having a dig at any club or anyone else that runs events at puke and i can understand why MNZ won't allow permits but that doesn't mean that no bikes are allowed on the circuit anymore it just means that we can't run any MNZ santioned race meetings or rider training events).

I wonder if a compromise would be to put out the bales still - effectively making that part of narrower. Actually, that seems like a very easy compromise.

Sure, the serious ones were a result of the bike clearing out the bales so the rider hit the wall, or the rider going in first, and the bike following them in. However, there were many incidents that were minor, because the bales were there, which stopped them being a major. There is only a slim chance now that any incident would be minor, with the wall so close...

I think I read somewhere that Pukekohe will not allow the bales to be put out along the wall? Not sure if I'm correct however...

Great location puke track but have to admit I have never been to Hampton Downs - Heck I don't even really know where it is.

Sad indeed, I used to love taking my son there to watch the motorbikes going round.

My understanding is that the problem is not just Ford Hill or whatever it is currently called but also concrete barriers in close proximity to the track from Jennian through to the beginning of the back straight. I know of 2 classic racers who crashed at speed there, one of them said he hates to think what would have happened if he hit concrete barriers.

The changes are driven by the supercars & that is where the money is. No they will not listen to 10% of their market

That's pretty much it. These changes are right in line with the usual for the horsey crowd - go with the money upper end of the market.
