    Well unfortunately the lube job hasn't worked, so I guess the next step is the pro's, so this guy work with thick leather? (the zip look pretty well embedded in the leather to my amateur eye)

    how is the suggested solution holding out? WOn't last forever, but can make a difference to wear time if you are on a tight budget.

    it's working for now, but I'm pretty positive that the zips misaligned by the slightest & this is/was the cause of the prob but at-least I've got a fix till such time as I get you to replace it with a more substantial zip; one a bit more glove friendly maybee

    maybe i missed it, but is it a metal teeth or plastic zip? If its plastic and looks like the zip on the right in the link above, just twist the zip to the side slightly while pulling up. This works for me on a jacket wih this problem (and this zipper type)
