Depends on the shape of the car. Depends whats under the car. As someone mentioned before, you can do this without wings, but it involves changing the shape of the car, and having a smooth undertray.
Checkout the bottom of a F360 some time, especially under the back.

If you're retro fitting, you're not exactly going to start chopping pillars and ripping shit out from underneath.

    Try research before calling bullshit.

Has he actually DONE any experiments to see how much down-force he is actually getting?? I have and it's easy to set-up a test rig on the car.

Be better if he could move existing weight further to the rear.
Seen a Mini de joux GT before?
His particular one is weighing in at about 600kg or so, fwd, with 1.6 honda hanging over the front. Slam on the brakes in that thing and the back end wants to leave the ground (combination of grip and weight distribution).

Not sure how much work has been done on the down force, Splitter on front, wing on rear, channeling underneath --> out the back.

I'll go hunt out a pic. Not sure if on this pc though.

Yup, old bugger like me HAS seen a Mini de Joux!!!

Still need a high cornering speed for a rear wing to have any real effect.

When it's an inch or so off the ground with big fat slicks, I can assure you it has serious cornering speed (Have been around pukekohe in the passenger seat). Full throttle in 5th around jennian and over the hill. Braking into the hairpin makes great use of the race harness!

I'll find a pic. The De Joux was the base, but its of course been modified, 1.6 Honda Vtec (currently taking it to about 10,000rpm), 200 and something HP. 600kg or so. No weight in the back heh.

So he completely screws up the original cars design and expects aero aids to make it handle.

You can do this on a Suzuki SJ80 - but you don't new no fancy spoiler to fix it,a bag of cement tames it down a bit.

Its a race car, not a concours entry. You're also assuming theres a huge weight difference between the original engine and the new one.

Gotta love the assumptions round here. Lou, with your extensive knowledge of the car in question and the original, please explain what has changed, how it affects the car, and how it performs compared to the original. Try it with facts.

Motu, that'd be a solution, but the weight is an acceleration killer.

I don't like cars really lol, funny, I seem to like heaps of other machines.

The coolest thing for me would be to get a 67 Mustang (Olive green/Bristish racing green) and crank up the 'Bullitt' theme lol

Just because you have a large wing fitted does not mean unlimited grip. Race cars rely on mechanical grip when cornering as wings don't tend to work when a car is sideways or travelling slowly.
Since when do race cars go slowly??? as long as their is some forwards momentum then the wings will still apply downforce when sideways. Trouble is it will be less than before it let go......

With all due respect ,Bullshit,How many Ferraris,Astons,Maseratis etc.that can approach 300kph are designed to look like a pram or lawnmower?
Ever seen a Ferrari F40???? the car that started the big wing thing....?
What about a Lambo Countach???? although it has to be said the wing on a countach lost 10mph or so off the top speed, but people still bought it.
Maserati don't really build a decent car (wallowy and soft) other than the MC12 supercar that has wings and looks like a Le Mans racer.
Most of the modern supercars are flat bottomed with diffusers and have there shape expressly designed for high top speeds. A ferrari Enzo has a freaky shape for good reason.
Cars and big wings suck, on your average ricer they must add 50kg+

You expect guys who think it looks cool to wear pants at half mast and a cap on backwards to CARE about how sad their CAR looks?
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
