cordura will always make you sweat. essentially you are wrapped in a plastic bag...kinky, but not over comfy. Vents are expensive to put in, buy leather gear. Leather DIrect in Cuba mall had good specials the other day, it may still be happening. can't beat leather for protection, but not warm come winter. I choose leather on warmer days and cordura when its cold.
O and any textile is a one hit wonder, forst off and it's time for new gear, leather can often be repaired and continue to give good service.

another point: secondhand leather gear is generally really good value. not so much the cordura

I would avoid wearing normal jeans (they did jack all when a mobility van decided to collide into me), unless you've got armour that you can slip on underneath or on top (which I didn't have at time...). Motorcycle jeans with inbuilt armour, and made from kevlar material are a good choice. You can get some waterproof (goretex is awesome) overpants for when the rain hits (I picked some up the other day second hand from Savemart - kathmandu hunting overalls made from goretex). There's nothing worse than riding in wet, cold jeans (especially at this time of year).
