    Methven Buckets and Cams

Wow what a day, I loaded up on friday and just before I put the Bucket on i had to fit a new fuel line, off with the tank and seat.....oh fark my frame cracking has made a comeback, nothing serious but a concern. A quick call secured me a back up option from one of the YLR satelite riders. This gave me a few options for the two classes I'd entered.

Got there and set up with the team manager and unloaded the bikes and set them up for the tight Methven circuit.

I took the TZR/XR 250 out in the 150/250 cams class practice and it was slow but handled well as usual, plenty of the RG's and Ninga's were faster.

I took Brens bucket out in the bucket pratice, There as a bit of sledging as usual. I was sent me out with a fault to see if I could pick it????? The Bike was Fast.....very very strong at the top end but had a flat spot through the mid range so found i had to jut ride it at the top end of the rev range. Back at the pits i was informed that the bike had bent forks.......After my TZR frame the FXR was shit but i haddnt noticed the font end issues

Cams 150/250 class, I ditched the 250 for my bucket and had a ball running at the pointy end and ended up with two 4th's and a 3rd so with the smallest bike in the class i was stoked with the result, the frame cracking hadn't got worst but it will need to be sorted.

Buckets, The first race i managed to keep pace with Al Hoogie for the first couple of laps but started loosing touch and finished in a comfortable second........woohoo!!!!
Race two, not listening to Bren I felt faster on my bike so went out on the TZR.....allthough it felt better its wasnt, Bailie Perriton was riding well and we came up to a back marker i chose the wrong option to pass on the outside, Bailie got us both on the inside (great move too) and i had to settle for third not having the power which wasnt compensated with better handling.
Race Three put my fat ass back into contention, Al Hoogie was class as usual and rode away for the third win and left Bailie and i to scrap out second place we swapped positions a few time and found my best chance was breaking into turn one. Sure enough Bailie left his breaking a little later on the last lap and over cooked the corner which gave me the inside line and second place which i held to the line.

Second overall in buckets is very satisfying and its the best I have rode for awhile, Thanks to Cams and Methven Lions for runing the event and Bren for loaning me the FXR......More power required. Well done to the fellow Bucket and 150/250 rider for having all 6 races running without incident, unlike all other classes which all had red flagged races. The decision to not restart a red flagged race a winner in my eyes.
