After a 40mm ATE caliper for a 1976 BMW R90, they were fitted to 750's, 900's and 1000's between 1976 and 1980.According to the BMW experts they are the most useless brake caliper in the world, my bike currently has only one so I figure two should be twice as good.
there are two types the 38mm one and the 40mm. The 40mm one has 40 stamped on it, the 38 has nothing.
Picture shows them on my race bike, I need one for my road bike.

I think a 4 pot floating disc would look a bit odd on a 76....

My old BMW has a 38 on one side & a 40 on the other & the only person that ever picked that was you.
I dont think it makes much difference.
I have a number of those calipers, size unknown at this stage. I will have a dig around in the railway wagon shed tomorrow & let you know whats there.

The 40 is on the right. The bike is exclusively a classic race bike & I wouldnt have known there was any difference until volty pointed it out.
Still need to check the shed mate, been absolutely flat out, might head up there later today.
