    Fuel prices.

    With the lastest rise, supposedly because a storm near the southeastern US oil oilfields 'may' affect production, it's come time to do something about it.
    There have been amazing examples of how quickly an idea can spread via email/text, so how about emailing/ texting everybody you know and suggest a boycott of BP until the end of September.
    Why BP?
    Because they are invariably the first to raise prices, they are the biggest and because a yearly profit increase of up to 138% is clearly price gouging.
    Let's squeeze them till they squeak for a month. It won't hurt us, there's always other brands. Then perhaps hit one of the others if there has been no response.
    What do you think?
    Speed doesn't kill people.
    Stupidity kills people.

    I'm all for it - dont shop at BP anyway. Have seen this idea spread around via email for some time, but never seems to get taken up by the general public.

    So . . . I'm in, how about everyone else?

    Cool

    My local is BP... there is a Mobil just across the way, but find the servicee there not to good.
    The other Caltex further up the road is shut and they are redoing it all up.
    and riding down the other way is another BP.

    Guess I am kinda stuck with BP.. and I do get AA rewards points from them as well.

    Only shop at Mobil me.
    It all seems a bit odd. How many months/years is this storm expected to last?

    How big a lobby group could the whole motorcycle group ever hope to be?
    What is the total number of bikes registered in NZ.

    Arrow I don't think it'll help.

    Maybe they will say that due to the local boycott @ KB they have to put the price up further. At the end of the day they are going to charge whatever and we are going to pay. Either that or no more motorcycling

    i wonder just how much the oil companies make per day.. i saw on the news last night that the wholesale price of gas is 0.69 a litre.. then you add the 0.05 tax.. the Crown gets 0.18 and ACC gets some ( DONT WE ALREADY PAY HUGE ACC LEVIES???).. i wonder just how much we could affect the market if NOBODY bought fuel for 1 day?

    could be a good protest if we could get some press on it,..
    (some more gouging figures.. this is sick..)
    * Crown account 18.71c.

    * Land transport fund 22.49c.

    * ACC levy 5.78c.

    * Petroleum fuels monitoring levy 0.025c.

    * Local authority petroleum tax 0.66.

    * GST (based on 132.9c pump price) 17.76c.

    What we need is a united front on this and more important issues, e.g.: ACC, licenses, 70k limits, cheese cutters, ACC, parking, roads, snail trait road repairs, painted lines, ACC, rego costs...
    We all have our little obsessions...
