Finally some sensible conversation.
Would just like to add that it is not only "my generation" Madness that really have no interest in drugs and would prefer it eradicated if ever possible.
My kids have a huge bunch of mates that wouldn't have a bar of it, and for the record, they have different parents the lot of them. Age ranging between 15 and around 30 at a guess. I haven't heard any of them say different.
So it's not just a generational thing to be fair.
But in part i can agree with some portions of your statement. If you are sitting at home sensibly having a toke, or for that matter drinking a few ales with ya mates, then so be it and leave you alone. Not totally comfortable, but near enough. I don't necessarily have to invite you to my place or like you for it, but it's your choice.
If i ever find out you have arrived at my place after the effect without asking my permission then you will get my foot up your arse, my choice. I actually find that pretty damn offensive to be honest.
If you ever drive on the same road as me under the influence or work with me ( not like that will happen, cause i won't let it) then don't expect me to show you any mercy either, as i don't suffer fools gladly.
so i'm somewhere in between, but have to say, i have never seen any good come from pot or any other substance, and i have been around and in some very dark places at times, so i do have some links one way or another.
Not so sure it's anything to do with being rounded up like sheep, we just have a far different train of thought on these things for different reasons.
Do you ot think also that the money could be saved by people just getting their highs from more life substance, that way we wouldn't have to chase the users around all day, if they weren't interested in using that is. There is more to life than chasing an artificial high, you can get a rush from all sorts of natural daily chores or passions. You ride a bike, surely you must get some rush out of that! At no cost to your health either! Or anyone else's for that matter. (accidents under the influence)

I'm glad you liked my post and I'm glad you're adjusting your position somewhat after reading the views expressed by others with what must be an open-mind to some degree.

I'd like to come back in response to the bit about people getting high from life & not "needing" Cannabis or chasing artificial highs. For me Cannabis is like a cold beer after work, salt on my fries or sauce on my mince pie. It adds to the experience, enhances it, makes it even more fucking awesome than it might have been without it. Cannabis for me isn't like Heroin is to a junkie, I get up every morning & go to work and function fine without it, without those I interact with realising I might have been a bit potted the night before.

I'd like to respond to you & your mates not having a bar of it also. I wouldn't want to have a bar of homosexuality (that sounded bad, huh?) but I wouldn't let that get in the way of others who choose to root others with the same bits. I find the inequality towards Gay Marriage deplorable in this day & age and struggle to believe that homosexuality itself was a crime not that long ago. Stll, the changes to our laws to date in this area do give me hope that further steps towards being able to call New Zealand a fair country to all are not far away.

As an aside, I haven't hd a good smoke for more than a week now and I'm not crawling the walls or poking anybodys eyes out. Yet.

I had a great rush out of riding a dirt bike, till I binned it and fucked my hand up to the point that I failed exams because I couldn't write properly. That was 2.5 years ago and I still get occasional pain from it. So much for no cost to my health, ay?

it's called speed. there's two kinds, one is a white powder that you mix in a teaspoon with some spit, the other is what happens when you crank your right wrist back. people can be just as easily addicted to either. i would suggest that in public, ie on a road, the latter is more dangerous to society at large, and science/statstics would probably agree
