Flats. About 50/50 road and tracks.
I'll have to find out where Supplejacks is...
OK, found it...
"The Supplejack track is one of four tracks in the DOC Conservation Area of the Hira MTB Park. A favorite amongst the more skilled riders of the area. Known for its tight switchbacks, and rocky riverbed section, it is a true test of skills and confidence."
What does "Double black diamond" mean?
I just bought another pair of shimano spd 540 on the t7 sale. The old 520s were getting on bit and I've been impressed with the way they've handled various rock/tree stump moments.
That eye-candy brand stuff looks good but read some interesting stuff about use of rough/dirty trails that steered me away.
Check out Time Atacs also. I bought a set for both my MTB's 7 years ago, they work very nicely & they are still going strong. Crank Bros stuff works ok too but friends with the Crank Bros ones seem to wear them out a bit - they are easy to rebuild but when the bearings fail the end falls off the pedal leaving a sharpish skewer ready to tear a strip out of your calf so check for play every now & then.
Don't be tempted to use someones hand-me-down clapped out old SPD's like I did for the 1st few years of my mtb career cos I was too tight to buy something decent.![]()
...& it's Whaka WednesdayThe singlespeed is in the entropy lab undergoing R&D on a new chain tensioner so the 29er will be getting a run this afternoon.
Cheers

Would I get slapped for mentioning that I feel like a decent ride tonight, Hill Rd - Tuhotu-Ariki - Split Enz maybe?
Get in touch & turn up with yer helmet, I usually ride the SS in the redwoods so visiting adv'ers in town that would like to be shown around the forest are welcome to borrow the Giant 29er for the ride.
Cheers
Clint
That is fast...
Nice. Our pup would have stopped in the middle of the track i front of the bike & said "wait- have i been fed in the last 5 mins?"
The filming is bloody amazing nowadays.
In life as in dance Grace glides on blistered feet
That dog is scraping it's bottom bracket on some of those obstacles...
so a bike being "a bit of a dog" is not neccesarily a bad thing in the mtb world?
On closer inspection some of that 'rock bros' stuff looked great in the pics, but i wasn't convinced of the quality.
So not opting for top of the range (shit the price of some of it!), I've just ordered some Wellgo M195s.
Seemed to be about the best bang for buck I could find.
