Them pushies will do that...stick to something with a throttle mate, they're far safer...ask me, I've done more damage on them peddly things than anything with a motor....or maybe not

Gunna get back into the pushies tho, just bought a Merida one-twenty XT to replace my ageing worn out Diamondback which has done over 40k. Need some better fitness for the sidecars (-:

yeah it's funny how many people regard motos as dangerous - mtbs cause just as many injuries.

Most people never leave good sealed road conditions on a moto.

I face planted outside Countdown pulling a mad stoppie. Never did that on a moto.

I'm hoping mine will fit in the van when we do Taupo so I can do a few rides during the week before Manfield

Survived Karapoti 50km on Saturday with a time of 4hr 23min in weekend warrior class.
After fitting a set of sintered front pads on Friday I'm never going back to organics, nearly out myself in hospital testing them in motel carpark!
Image from start of mens Pro Elite race, 30mins before mine. Anton Cooper smoked around the course in a ripping 2hr 07min!!!

My new baby is well and truly run in now! Trying to look dignified for the camera up the aptly named devils staircase.
Takes about 30mins of bike carrying/pushing to get up here, steeper than photo shows to.

    Good on ya

The Karapoti is on my must-do list sometime after getting the TT over there and riding the Maungatooks with Marks.

    well done to all participants.
I did it one year & hated it - well not all of it - I loved the devils staircase & rockgarden but the rest was dull (& hard & tiring). Even gave my commemorative mug away as I didn't want to be reminded of the trudge up those last hills

You should come down & do the Coppermine - it's a bloody good track/ event.

Just put a set of cheap wire bead Continental X-King 2.4" tyres on the hard tail.
They seem like a nice rubbery compound after the plasticyness of the Hutchy Bulldog and Toro.
The Hutchy's never gave me confidence, even though they look the business, I think they're more suited to loamy/damp terrain where the knobs can sink in. On the hardpack they just scrabble for grip and bruise ribs

    They're quite large volume tyres...
I don't think the 2.4" would fit on the back of the Blur, the seat stay cross bar would have about 3mm of clearance...

You can definitely feel and see the difference the larger volume makes, the rear with 25psi deforms a lot less when just sitting on the bike.

Keeping my eye out for a dropper post for the hard tail now...

well that & the 3 pies I ate at the 2nd drinks stop

My rear tyre is looking really rooted - lots of skidding tonite round every corner. The tracks are still pretty talcumy.

    I love mtbing
