I must get my old Schwinn roadie back &...well... just hang it up with the other roadie bikes I never ride anymore.... It holds a special place in my heart as it was the first bike I ever rode into a car with... grunting up college hill going 3kph and the car was parked

I kinda like the orange paint scheme , you should leave it- unless you go for a Josie & the pussycats theme.
I have to say, Josie and the pussycats wasn't the first theme that came to mind.
It's had the flames for 10 years now, it's time for a change
The plan is to do the whole thing dark metallic grey, then paint the lugs in a contrasting colour - maybe bright pink, but I'll see what paint I can find.
The road to hell is paved...

Following the celebrity trend, a no make up selfie, well surely applying a bit of the road to your body doesn't count as make up.
Carried a bit of extra speed off last jumps on downhill trail last Sunday and lost front and rear trying to turn into next track entrance, showing off to fellow riders always ends badly lol
Matching gravel rash to lesser degree on hip and leg. Healing up alright, and oh the bike is ok

Have mavic put a proper bearing in the free hub? the wheels stood up well to a beating but servicing that bushing every couple of months really shitted me.

They still use a bush on some models. But most use to much and the wrong lube.

yeah it was gold when the bike store threw some grease in there on a mates bike and it ran for about 3 minutes before starting the howl again. Clean it out, light weight oil, good to go.

It was only really a problem in shitty wet conditions, I rode them 1000km accross Italy with not a peep from them. Ended up ripping a couple of spokes out of the rim with them on the hardtail last winter. Not sure I'd trade again though.

They should be using the Mavic oil. But not many shops carry it.

Yes they should but it's amazing what people put in brakes.

    Just checking out the possibilities...

29er wheels will fit. Appropriate forks may be an issue...

Rode past the cyclocross race up the Maitai today. looked for Nordie but couldn't see him.
The romantic notion of it being a pleasant way to spend a few hours disappeared after watching it for 5 mins. Looked like long drawn out torture to me.

    They're not like normal people.

Cyclocross is a stupid game, the first lap hurts then you spend 45 minutes tasting blood and wishing it would stop.

Proper mountain biking on the other hand, I always look like I am enjoying it.
