Just a really good deal on TradeMe.
Big get off would indicate big speed. I don't do that.

The Kona seat post at 370mm is borderline short whereas the Thomson is 410mm.
I actually got a more secondhand looking straight Thomson too and that suits my riding style more.

The Thomson seat clamp has far more surface area clamping the rails too.

In wheel news, since I evened up the spoke tension on the single speeds, 3 sets of wheels have stayed nice and true.

No more tweaking them back after every few rides.

Go see the boys at Mud Cycles in Karori. Dave and Ricky will point you in the right direction. In fact I think you can ride for the shop. Tell them I sent you.

Ask Ricky to show you his infamous video....

Police College Fri/Sat then will find something Sunday. Got AGM and related stuff Sunday and most of Saturday, so I'll probably bike Monday morning. Saw Makara Peak while hunting?

Friday as I head down I thought I'd explore some trails around Kaitoke (around a lake I believe) and when I head north I'll probably do some around Kinloch on Tuesday morning (took Thurs - Tues off). I've also got a mapping program on my mobile, so I feed back the trail data to the NZ Open GPS maps to flesh it out a bit when nothing has been noted in the area.

So debating whether Makara Peak is a good option or something up the Kapiti Coast...

During Easter a mate and I did a road trip and did the W2K track plus headland loop but not the stretch to Kinloch, so that's probably the first bit anyway as it's not all on the map either.

Yeah, van, haven't made up some mounting on the BMW for the mtb bike yet so it has to be transported somehow. Plus I'm planning to look at a towbar for the Hiace in the same area. PM you closer to the time

I think a gravel grinder is in order today.
The cyclocross bike needs an outing.
