    Too true.

As much as I wish it were otherwise, people assess each other within minutes of meeting and in seconds if just looking. So what you wear and how you look creates an immediate impression in others. Yes, its shallow and judgemental but for some reason we are all wired that way.

The one thing I do not get is why women crop their hair. Why do you do that?? You pay $70 to a hairdresser so you can look like a guy? The local barber would do that for $15 and quicker. It just doesn't work as being attractive to me.

So many women look like men these days that I have to wonder what possesses them to do that? If this is a triumph of feminism then sadly IMHO the result is a fail.

Speaking only for myself, I went for the "pixie" look (another name for the man/dyke look) a few years back, as it was so easy to look after, was wash'n'go, and I've never been one for spending hours on my hair or makeup. I'm waaaaaay too busy to make time for a whole lot of war paint and spray, especially when it wouldn't last; I could spend ages on my "look" only to have to all go pear shaped within an hour or so.
I grew my hair long again after that to try for a more feminine look only to be told by my sister that long hair on older women often looks "witchy" (was her word -true!). I didn't think I looked like a witch, and in fairness she never told me I did. However I suffered during the terrible hot flashes that us women of a certain stage get with almost unbearable sweating and feeling as if I was on fire. Tying up my hair all the time ended up hurting my scalp and giving me headaches.

I left it as long as I could, being determined to not get the middle aged woman uniform haircut but eventually compromised with a shoulder length cut.

I'd actually love to try the bald look as my scalp has no lumps or dents or weird shapes that I can feel but I don't know if I could rock the Sinead O'Connor look...

It works, why change a winning strategy?

No surprise that males see females primarily as desirable or otherwise based on their appearance. What is perhaps surprising it that females categorise females exactly the same way.

'Tis hard to not just feel like giving up when everything takes triple the effort (and time) it used to.

But I'd like to think that I still make the effort for both my own sense of well-being and pride as well as others who have to look at me!
Don't give up! Take a few cycles of HGH.. that will fix ya..

LOL understood. Don't worry, there isn't one rule to rule them all.

Noelle McCarthy is an attractive women. Here she is with should length hair, and with a crop. I cannot for the life of me understand why she chooses a chop. It is far too masculine for a normally attractive woman.

Interesting! Who knows why, and as long as they're happy and all that.

We're wired to be attracted by our counter parts, I think appearance which may also translate to hygiene, is important, is appearance not how we're attracted to someone in most instances?

Although, there are cases where someone can become attractive where you didn't think they were.
Good married friends of mine have a mutual agreement that if one or the other gets obese, they're on their own, fair call I reckon. But they won't, because they care enough to stay attractive to each other.
That there's not just self respect but, mutual respect and keeping the fire ignited!

Personally, I couldn't live my life out as a slob but I'm not high maintenance either, as Genie says - you're a long time dead and when I go, my GF's know to bury me in heels.

So watch your weight It'll keep your mate smitten, it's a given.

I have recently discovered that I have a talent for shaving ladies heads. I am happy to oblige PB.

in my days i sported, mohak, shaved, 5 cents army style , red, yellow blue etc .etc......now i am back to natural and long, until the day i will cut it again.

soap and conditioner, gets all tangeld up, will never really do what it is supposed to etc etc.

and yes, when i have very short hair, i have been going to the barber......the best one was in NY, all black kids and one white women needing a shave...twas fun! and they only charged $5.

As for women looking like men? Scuse me, you mean they are wearing trousers? and flat shoes? and have a stylish short haircut? and no makeup?
You mean they are committing the unbearable sin of not wearing a dress, high heels and full make up at any time to please some random geezer who has got ideas about feminity dating straight back to the fifties?

sorry, a lot of us women folks just can't be arsed anymore to go spend huge amounts of money to please some ficitional male stereotype.
However, a lot of us will pull the full repertoire to please one of the geezers.....just because we can
