    Kwaka 636 03/04 owners manual ?

I am hoping to get my hands on one of the above. Anyone know whether there is a site on the net that I can download one? I checked the other very useful (looooooong) thread about online manuals and found a workshop manual for the bike, but can't find an owners manual. Any help greatly appreciated. Also, anyone know if the owners manual has any info about setting up the suspension in it? Cheers

why... have you gone and bought one..????
the suspension set up isn't covered for modification in the manual. It only says the stock settings in the workshop manual (I think), and I'm not sure if it even mentions it in the bike manual. Have to check when I get home. Either way, it won't tell you the best set up. That's for you to either play with, or pay someone to set it up for you. I'm just stepping into that relm myself. It's not too hard, but it's just know what's good and what feels bad.

A possible base to start on could be this. I thinking about trying this, see what difference in makes. BUT before you start anything, write down the settings that you change. Then if it doesn't work out or feels worse, you can refer back to the original setting before you played with it

Thanks for that BJ. Your reply is helpful , as is the link. One thing though: do you know why there are different settings for 2003 and 2004...I thought they were identical bikes???

no idea. I thought they were too. Only two things I can see different are the tyres and the time of the year (temp and conditions etc, but that wouldn't effect much).. The tyres might have given a different feel, so that changed their prefs for the set up. Try noting both of them and see which bits work better..

A few points - make only one adjustment at a time. Don't go changing heaps, cos some bits could be spot on and others way off. Then you won't know which is what. So change one thing, such as the preload, then ride, then change something else like the rebound, then ride.. and just do little bits like that.

The other thing to bear in mind is the rider. Each person will most likely prefer a slightly different setup. While the link could be a good start, the only thing it could be good for is the place to start. Have to take into account that the rider could be a different weight and build to you or I, and that they could be running on a track for these settings, where as we're most likely using it for the road.

Also the tyre type too. Some brands will act different to other brands, which will make the suspension set up act a little differently in corners.

And then on top of that, I'm not sure if the settings here, are for a 65 series front tyre (which is stock size) or a 70 series which is more commonly fitted as a replacement (altho 65s are available). So that'll change the dynamics of the whole set up again!!

just so much to take into consideration.. It's not until now, that I really realised how much goes into setting up the right bike.. And of course, it'll be set to you. Someone else riding the bike might not like it, or suit it..

    I think it was done!

As for having one, well, the answer is...I kinda have one. It's a bit complicated. It's red. No. .. it's RED!!!!!!. I thought Ducatis and Ferraris were red, but compared to this red Ducati red is kind of pink

well have fun with it.. if you need any help, there's a few around that have the 03/04 bikes, and a few have ditched their beloved ones for the slower 05s (yes, you know who you are..). They will know too, but their common answer is 'sell it and buy an 05..', but only cos they can't stand being the slower ones of the bunch.. they're still just about quicker the other 6s tho, so we still kinda stick together
    but just yell
