    MotoGP.com Video Pass 2013

Next weekend. MotoGP.com video pass is the way to go if you've got the coin.

Edit (11/04/13): MT split the MotoGP thread and gave the video subscription chatter its own thread. The chatter derived from here.

I have the motogp.com video pass and to be honest, I think that is the best option (so long as you have good broadband). Yeah, it's expensive (99 euro for the season) but you get a hell of a lot of coverage. All the practices, qualifying, warm-up, race, and then all the extra stuff that comes along. You can also watch it live, or whenever you get the chance. Plus you have access to 10 years or so of old race footage if your keen.

That being said the main reason I got it was because I couldn't be assed to get Sky, and record the races, blah blah blah.

And you don't need to watch live.
If you can resist looking at the results in the news there is a video only link where only a list of the video coverage comes up, no news etc.
So you can watch it all the next evening/day at your leisure.
I didn't realise this and was covering the screen with my hand in the hope that I would block out the results part.
    Doh!!!
I just got my Video pass. It hurts a bit, but SkyShit hurts a whole lot more and I don't have the coin nor enthusiasm for SKY TV.
The new multi-screen apps should be a bit of fun. (Can watch multiple cameras at once).

    .......blah.

Yes, the MotoGP subscription is worth it. You also get all the interviews as well. I watch last years races as a warm-up! Most coverage now in 720P.

They have discounted it , 75 euro ($114nz) full season pass, so roughly 1/3 the price of a year subscription to sky sport now

Don't know where you are seeing that.
MotoGP website lists Full Season video pass at 99.95€ or monthly pass at 24.95€ per month.

Ok, so can it be recorded some how for viewing when suitable - or do you have to watch it live?

BTW it comes up as 99.99Euro on my page.
It's OK to disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

Laptop + good broadband + MotoGP subscription + HDMI cable + 42" HD TV = Me and beer watching the action. Whatever race I want, whenever I want.

    Sky can go screw themselves........

...............now only if WSBK had a online subscription, life would be complete.

If you get the MotoGP subscription.......YES.

You can either watch all the practices, qualifing and races live, or the will put them up afterwards for you to view at your own convienence. I think they also keep all those sessions available to you forever (thats the internet's definition of forever, ie, a couple of years). Also included are the post race interviews, special slow-mo camera shots, ect ect.

In other words, give Sky the finger and get the online subscription (so long as you have good broadband coverage).

    You'd think they'd miss 100 bucks a month ?
You could always cancel just the sport and replace it with motogp subscription? thats what i did after their poor coverage last year.
In a shit fight with sky at the moment tho..... got a promo in the mail "by mistake" saying No sky joining fee plus 12 months 2 free channels, e.g. sky sport and sky movies, all for $46 for the first year. Waiting to hear back if theyre going to give me the free sport and movies . if not I'm canceling my subscription and signing up in the missus name to get it Fuckers!!

Unfortunately the success of the MotoGP.com Video Pass means Dorna really are creaming it. They hold off awarding television rights so that they get as many as possible signing up for video passes. At some late stage they award the video rights for just as much as they were going to anyway if not more.

Dorna controls all possible avenues for media - except for private tests.

I don't know why the teams don't get together and organize more private tests so that they can stick it to Dorna. Costs are definitely higher as Dorna cover a bunch of things for testing (transportation, circuit hire etc) but the benefits to the teams and sponsors of getting on track/in pit/behind the scenes footage without any encumbrances should easily outweigh that.
