Well, actually... As a species we are social animals. Like many species of "higher" mammals, we gather together for a number of reasons that were programmed into us by our biology; together we can prosper more than we ever can apart. Citys are a natural extension (admittedly a rather overblown one) of that natural grouping behaviour. It is in fact those that choose to live in isolation that are "not normal". However, I'd be the last person to judge someone for that choice.
