It mostly depends on who posts a thread such as this...most of the reply's in this thread are in response to your first post, rather than the thread topic, which in itself, shows that those who have read the first post, could not find enough provocation to respond to it.

It was only a matter of several years ago that a recently married father of one returning biker joined in on his very first kiwibiker group ride on the loop..he died in the same scenario as discribed in the first post.
Both his wife/family/those on the ride and the driver involve, will live with that for the rest of their lives. It doesn't always turn out favourably.

Vifferman -I can really relate to what you are saying.Back when I was Young and dumb (rather than old n stupid). There was no internet and cellphones were for Yuppies n builders.Even then the Coro loop was popular with bikers.My dad with his car with its 1970's brakes and steering was in EXACTLY your situation.He ended up driving over the top of a freind of mine who overcooked it the same way you describe.

Trouble is mon nothing has changed -The bikes are faster the roads margineally better and the cars steer/brake better -but people being people make stupid mistakes. All you can hope for is that THAT biker got one heck of a shock and might slow down long enough to stay alive awhile

there are certain types of people who pursue certain types of lifestyle. those who choose to live in auckland, for whatever reason, are fucked in the head. there really isn't two ways about it. it isn't normal to sit in traffic for 3 hours a day, it isn't normal to have a 2m grass perimeter around your house that all you do is mow, it isn't normal to huff smog... it just isn't normal.

Funny thing is I moved OUT of Auckland nearly 35 years ago, and now find myself back in the shitty city due to the "super City" merger. Cant bloody win really

Mind you, my rates actually went down with the merger, so a bit of a silver lining

Mine is not an Auckland thing though, it is the whole "city" thing I cant cope with.

Now this fucker on a bike down the loop the other day...

Lucky he is still alive to recount his close shave with a fucken cager eh?

i'm not denying it's discrimination, it's the same as i'd discriminate against a brown kid who wanted to borrow my shoes. same as i wouldn't lend a meth addict my sister, same as i deem people in rav4s to be sub-human or old-woman. prejudice, alive and well, and i'll admit to mine.

my judgment is flexible, as always, there's an exception to prove the rule. i know at least four people in auckland and at least one of them isn't a dick...

I live in Auckland, i don't sit in traffic for 3 hours a day, and never have, and i work in the city, i don't have a 2m grass perimeter, i have plenty of grass for our dog to play on, a basketball area, a theatre room, a barbeque area...the beach is five minute’s walk away, there are hundreds of shops, entertainment places and sports within 15min drive, hundreds of restaurants..etc etc...so thanks for the generalisation....as i have always said to non Aucklanders who seem to spend all their waking hours thinking of reasons to hate....we don't spend any time at all thinking about you...

Is this a biker or cager forum? Or a police forum?

You are entitled to your opinion, as are we. If yours is that members on here are only about complaining of dumbarse riders who jeopardise others' road safety and rights then you need to take a bigger look around. Your post above doesn't lend you much credibility despite your protestations of your survival skills on the road.

Given that English is not your first or second or third language I suggest you might like to take a little longer to get the feel of this site - if you are a dickhead then you will most certainly find others here to hang out with in cyberspace. If even our resident cocks don't want to associate with you then you are likely to find yourself with little support. Improve those colloquial language skills and the nuances of speech and writing here if you want to be understood. Communicating in a language that is not your specialty (and goodness knows there are enough here whose language skills are atrocious even though English is supposed to be their primary language) is a minefield which you are treading very clumsily.
Oh, you don't have to feel too special, your situation is not unique. Write like a tosspot and you will get responses accordingly. Many others could tell you that is so as they've been on the receiving end also.

Having done the Coro loop today, I can report back that the only person on the wrong side of the road was a plumber in his van, coming down the hill towards Coro township.
