    Revving on GN250

Just now, I went for a ride on the Hutt road. The bike felt sluggish to ride, and when changing down, the rev wouldn't automatically come down as usual - I had to pull on the brake. When I went to a petrol stationl, I put the bike in neutral and revved the engine up to 3500 RPM, and took my hand off the throttle, and instead of coming back to idle, it just kept on revving at around about the 3500 RPM mark. What's the problem? Please and thankyou :/

    Check the choke isn't on.
Check the return spring on the carburetor is working. You can work the throttle there by hand to test.
Check the throttle cable isn't kinked or not crimped on any portion of the cable.
If the throttle cable is just sticking ... a bit of light oil down the cable (inner) will help.
If it IS sticking ... it may be a frayed throttle cable that needs REPLACED.

If all that checks out ok ... It may be a bit of crud in the carb. Turn the fuel off then drain the fuel from the carb float bowel. (usually a brass one at the bottom) turn fuel on again an flush for a few sec's then turn off again and replace drain plug/screw. Turn fuel on and try again in a few minutes.

Check it regularly then ... a choke even partially on will cause you to use more petrol (and not run as well) than it should.

This may be worth a look at if the problem continues after lubing the Throttle cable and the choke control shaft.
    Clean the airfilter....
