Damn that's good coffee according to most recent Tinder Sheila http://www.laffare.co.nz/product/primo/

Brava and Gusto blends are ok too

If you drink your coffee black, try a glass of soda water with it*...

    * soda water in another glass, not in the coffee... before someone asks

I might just have to test that out...

But at present I am drinking a glass of Domain Road Dry Riesling, 2015 vintage. It's still as hard as nails and tastes like rusty steel. Guess it needs another couple of years in the bottle...or maybe the drain

Jesus no milk! that's one step away from eating with your hands at a restaurant.

The only things I drink straight are Green tea with lemon and ginger (that's some seriously good shit there) or Royal Dragon vodka spilling of the breasts of a Russian stripper in Sao Paulo....

First litre at 92% alcomohol. I find it best to dilute this a bit...

yeah depending on what comes through...
if it's neutral spirit then bottle at 30-40%. if it's flavourful then leave it undiluted until you drink it and shoot for 15-20% in the glass.

don't forget to discard heads (everything below 78°C). tails too, though they won't kill you, just taste like shit.

also when i'm decanting i do several smaller cuts (catch approx 10-15% of the volume each), then blend them to taste... also gives you a chance to learn what distillates/flavours come off at what part of the brew...

i also have a genius edition of Trivial pursuit, about 4 boxes worth, if you wantem.

oh. and run a recirc pump and chiller, or use it to fill your bath or something... running water down the drain is a freakn waste.

I keep the first 125ml for cleaning purposes and never persist into the tail end. It's pretty cheap to produce so I figure no advantage in screwing the very last dregs out of the pot.

I've been running this still for 20 years and am not dead yet. Must be missing something...

I'd really like one of the copper stills but given that I am not supposed to drink ANY alcohol, I figure I oughtn't push it.

The recirc and chiller is a very good idea Akzle. Today the incoming water temp is 24C. I get better results in the winter when incoming water is much colder.

Yes it is a reflux still. I fill the column right up, usually with rashid rings (I think that's what they are). Originally it only had part packing. Filling it up shoves the strength way higher.

I once left a batch at 60%. Just to test it out y'know - purely in the interests of science . Trouble was every time I had a second shot I fell over and went to sleep. 40 - 45% seems to be plenty.

Holding up to collection bottle is the only use I have for that game these days...

Still run finished at 11.00am. Total yield was 4 litres at 89%.

Should last me the week if I go easy...
