If we had some real judges that had authority and accountability for their actions they would be able to deal to punks like this guy early on!

I would rather see this mongrel locked away and have the public safe from his fuck you attitude.

Stealing a couple of hats and skateboards?

He was freed on parole in April last year.

Four months later he committed two aggravated robberies with two separate accomplices.

The first involved taking a skateboard, hat and cigarette lighter from the victim after trying unsuccessfully to remove the victim's jacket. The second involved Whaanga kicking the victim in the back of his leg and taking his hat and cellphone.
Yes locking him up for 14 years is a waste of money, but only compared to the price of a bullet.

Our media and the opposition pollies have a lot to answer for, portraying this mongrel as an ordinary poor young man???? who has simply been misunderstood, Crap.

It's been around for the past 3 - 4 years and guess what, there are only 2 low life pricks on step 2.
I'd say the three strikes and your out policy is working bloody well.
There are only a few on step 1 and they've not gone out and done anything silly for those 3 - 4 years either.
Comment and or opinion is fine, but first do take the time to check out what the prick had done first, he's a mindless, sociopath who doesn't give a fuck , if you have it and he wants it, he'll simply take it from you using whatever comes to hand.
The pity is that instead of 14 yr no parole sentence, it isn't a simple , stand there, do you want a blindfold?
    I'd vote for that .

Petty theft is petty theft. A fight is a fight. Attacking someone to take their shit should get you 5 years... 14 is a bit stupid.

If he's stupid enough not to get the message that attacking people to steal stuff is wrong, after being banged up for it twice, then he needs to be put away for the good of society...or yeah, the bullet option.

That's exactly what the data shows..

    You only have to look to the USA to see how badly the 3 strikes idea works;

"After nearly 20 years and over $20 billion spent, California voters have voted overwhelmingly to reform our state's draconian "three strikes" law."

I wonder how much NZ will spend before we realise it doesn't work

I'd be interest to hear what you think does work? If hes autistic - sweet - but the vast majority of austistic people don't commit these types of crimes, I suspect if he is autistic hes just an autistic arsehole.

I think at one time or other we have all fallen victim to thieving scum. No insurance in the world makes up for the harm they do to decent people who work for their little luxuries... Fuck him would be my feeling....

Not that simple actually because before they brought 3 strikes in they looked at the USA system and modified it, hence why we have a list of offences that count and others don't. I suspect it wont work because it doesn't address the problem, it only tries to add another layer of control.

Not autism, more likely a sociapath if he think hurting people to take their stuff just because he wants it is ok. If he is a sociapath the silver bullet might be the only cure for society, no cure for him.

Ohhhhh you're expecting people to be good because you think they should. There are much worse thieves on this planet and the fuckers have billions to prove it. This guy is just following their lead. This will carry on so long as society carry's on going the way it's going. In fact it'll likely get worse so if I were you, which thank holy jesuses sweet right butt cheek I'm not, then you better start hiding your money from the tax man, coz you're gonna have to cough some more up to pay for their keep. Have a nice day
