It's cheaper than a loan... there was likely buggary involved too.

I wonder how much NZ will spend before we realise it doesn't work
Damned right, one strike is all it should take.

Always remembering of course that the first time they're caught is about the 10th time they've committed the crime, so it's more like a 10 strikes law, innit. Far too late, we need to ping them first up and deal with it before they start to believe it's OK.

Same godamned arguement with 'er indoors, she's of the "don't sweat the small stuff" camp. I'm firmly in the squash the shit outa the small stuff, 'cause it'll ALWAYS grow into big stuff camp.

And I've never yet heard a rational explanation for why they shouldn't cover the cost of their own incarceration just like their victims had to pay for the cost of their crime. Us, pay for their choices? Again? Fuck off.

Coz they can't afford it, quite possibly the reason for the offense, and someone has to foot the bill.

The kid got shit from people he knew and so his rationale is to go and punch strangers in the head and steal their money?

I got shit from people at school at too, I didn't go do some fucktard shit like that.

He has had two chances to turn his life around and no glimmer of hope yet. To boot, this is just what the state could successfully convict him on - probably know he did a couple other things but can't convict.

They already get given plenty of chances in prison. Workshops, learn skills like welding, etc. I had to pay for my welding course.

OK, so maybe the argument can be made that he needs help and he has fallen through the cracks in that respect. OK, but to say that's a fault of our justice system is wrong. Don't can the 3 strikes law just cos the health system can't cope.

Prison is pretty civilized on people these days anyway. The milton hilton has underfloor heating. If he IS mentally ill then it's not like we're sending them to a Gulag, or pulling some One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest shit on him.

Almost always the reason for the lag, they can't be fucked earning their own keep. Fuckem, least they can do is pay for their own lunch while they can't take someone else's.

True... however if they were given a free lunch they wouldn't have to take one off of someone else.

As usual the KB'R miss the point. This oxygen thief don't get the message this time . It's over. Might take a generation of this to happen before his followers of fashion get the point.

Next step is to make the families responsible for the upbringinmg of the love children born out of wedlock. Might help with the social costs

great - let's all put our hands out for freelunches - that way none of us will ever need to rob anybody of theirs...crime will drop and all will be good.

Yeah, that's why yer average high-rollin' actual wage earner is always far more likely to thieve shit than dem fine upstandin' dole bludgers.

Glad you're finally coming around... although I'd hardly call a high rollin thief average, they're usually quite smart. Much like many bludgers. Although if you;re using average in a per capita sense, then you're cheating and should be using average value.
