Why is it, that these cars all crash "shortly after the pursuit was abandoned"?

Morons who do runners in cars are asking for trouble, and to kill someone. But I am starting to find the standard line from the cops hard to swallow.

They had got away from the first cop then followed the second then overtook them. Sound like they were baiting the and cops got what they deserved.

When the cops get called off the runner doesn't know this so carry's on an then on relising the cops aren't there relax's but is still going fast so crashes.

It should read "police rammed fucktard off the road killing all the dumb fuckwits inside"

It does seem to be a common theme. Those cases where the pursuit is NOT called off seldom result in serious accidents, so the obvious solution is that police should not abandon their pursuit. The down side to this would be if the fleeing drivers still crash, then the police would be accused of causing the accidents by chasing innocent motorists. They just can't win.

Just going with the causality argument, but it they might be called off the cases that are most likely to end in a crash, therefore, it seems like most of the crashes happen when they've been called off the chase. The ones they aren't called off are the ones less likely to end with a crash

Makes me think that the reason people continue to run is because they're well aware that the police will call off the chase and there's a pretty good chance of getting away. I've seen/heard of more police chases in 5 years living in NZ then I have in 25 years in the US.

If the only people hurt/fleeing were the people killed, why does anyone even care? If you're doing a runner and crash, so long as you've not hurt any innocent parties, I can't bring myself to care even a little.

If you're thick enough to try and flee, and enough of an ass to put everyone around you at risk, then good riddance

You conveniently missed the most important part, someone didn't stop when requested to by police and broke multiple laws while trying to evade police.

But can you please post up where you got this information from or, like your other posts, you just pull bullshit out of your arse.

Better quality driver training should stop a majority of the crashes ...

No I didn't miss the point, they got what they deserved most likely. But like most others here I find it a-little too convenient that cops can chase people for 20 mins no probs, yet within a couple mins of police "calling off the chase" the perps always crash.
If they just came out & said "yep being idiots they ran, we chased for 20mins then the morons crashed" then no prob.

Stop and think for a minute.
Police are chasing a car,. call off pursuit OK, , car crashes, people die.
    mmmm
@ 150KPH, how far can you travel in ONE minute on your bike ?
and could you sustain this speed for 5 minutes at night on a NZ road?
    Now think
Johnny Can Do No Wrong, in his $1 deposit Subaru WRX on his learners license, with 3 mths driving experience....
Full of adrenaline, testosterone, let alone any alcohol or meth, with Suzie Eazy Spread beside him, and Peter A Dork in the back,
Goes through a red light....bugger...cops....if he stops will loose license have to walk...
He wants Suzie Easy Spread tonight, his ego tells him he is a good enough driver of his WRX Subaru Twin Turbos lowered coffin ..
So does a runner,........cops see he is not going to stop.......call off chase?

Johnny Can Do No Wrong, in his $1 deposit Subaru WRX on his learners license, with 3 mths driving experience....does not know this,
Foot flat to the floor.......3 min max survival time IF he knows what he is doing on city streets!!
180kph+ = News report of death.

Conspiracy? No , Police hiding the truth? I dont think so......the result of why our licensing system and enforcement are crap? Yes!
