What defines a boy racer? Would you just not get in any turbo Subaru? I own an early 80s Toyota (lowered, expensive wheels, exhaust, etc..), does that make me a boy racer?

It has lowered uprated springs and spax shocks, it has magnesium wheels, it has a tuned length long centre branch exhaust pipe, it has pan hard rods, anti tramp bars and a very stiff sway bar. It has a fast road scatter cam, high compression pistons and has been ported and polished. It is running larger carbies and uprated cooling system. Does this make me a boi macer, fuck I hope not.

I noticed in chch since cruising became illegal the only ones you see in cars are the assholes that cause trouble, fight and throw bottles at each other, but I used to like cruising around on the weekends, I was often referred to as both a boy racer and a car enthusiast.

I went to the local drags the other day, mostly old hot rods and a few muscle cars, there were a few boi macers there it was actually cool to see some old rat rod truck go against a WRX and get similar times.
