Seat lock can't open, What to do?

Hello, i'm quite new here, just got my hyosung gtr250 2006 a while ago.

The battery went out so I needed to open up seat and find battery to recharge, however i found out the seat lock can not open, i don't know why. It used to be fine weeks ago from memory.

Key is fine, and i tried many many times it just can't open the seat lock.

Any idea how may i resolve this issue? I heard locksmith could fix it, but they charge a lot

Can AA or Vtnz repair seat lock?

On the otherhand, I know how to roll start the bike, but how long do you guys reckon I should ride to let the bike recharge itself? FYI i'm still a beginner so probably not very long distance ~

Call into ANY bike shop and ask them to charge the battery. Give them the key. Nobody works for free ... but unlikely a bike mechanic will take long to sort the issue.

squirt some crc or wd40 in the lock

As above, CRC or WD40, and push the seat down as you turn the key

If it has a bit of charge (just not enough to kick it over) you can push start it. Hard to say how long you need to ride to get the battery charged, if there's no other problems half an hour should give it atleast enough to start normally.

If the battery is so dead nothing happens when you turn it on (no head light or dash lights) you're better off pulling the battery out and charging or replacing it.

If you pull the back of the rider seat towards the tank so it almost bends up at the back the seat will pop out and you can get to your battery, just dont yank it, Standard Hyosung flaw.


You still need to get the lock to go to use the seat space but at least you can get to your battery.

Under the pillion seat there is a little knob you pull and it pulls a small rod back away from the riders seat you will see on the back of a seat a small channel for it to sit in and thats what locks it.
