Never had one in my life but bought a canopy for my ute with a "5 bar Prorack" setup on top of the thing,i want to take the bars off leaving the 4 dodacketts they clip into but....had a look at there website and learnt nothing re how to do it,theres 4 small bolts,at first glance i thought the could be dealt with re an allen key,nope further inspection revealed a pin inside an almost (its tiny)octagonal bolt,no doubt theres a special tool but i dont ave it,anyone else have a roofrack made by these guys,long shot but what the hell.Pic of offending article fwiw...

Post up a picture of the head of the bolt. Either it's special to prorack, or just a different head type, and there are quite a few types out there now...

I may be wrong but those look like permanent mounts and you'd have to remove them completely to get access to the rails.

Prorack 'S' bars, never dealt with permanent mounted ones like that so can't help any further.

Are they rail mounted or mounted direct onto the canopy?

They sound like torx head screws. My torx bits have a hollow centre for a pin to fit in.

Theyre know as security bits. 6 or 8 point. You can buy hex drive sets. Jaycar. Meeb bunnings.

As axzle said. Your friendly local tool shop should sell kits of security bits, they are REALLY handy to have and it means you have to buy more tools. What a bugger

Yea seems your right neels "S " bars not "5".Ive old eyes...

The centre nub part makes it secure (a lot like torx and others have non-secure and secure). Definitely secure torx, and easy enough to pick up a set. Bunnings even has a cheapie set, 100+ bit set in plastic mould for something like $15.
