New Indian Chief to launch at Sturgis rally in August

Polaris Industries – the owners of Victory Motorcycles, who purchased the iconic Indian brand – has announced they will launch the inaugural Indian motorcycle at the Sturgis rally.

Polaris bought Indian in April 2011 and has been building carefully towards this launch. Inevitably, the first bike will be an Indian Chief, featuring a 49 degree, 111 cubic inch air-cooled v-twin engine.

Polaris Motorcycles Vice President Steve Menneto said their aim for the Chief was “to design and build a truly exceptional motorcycle that represents the perfect balance of legendary heritage and brilliant, state-of-the-art engineering and technology.”

Polaris announced the recommended sticker price of the 2014 model Indian Chief Motorcycle, which is to be sold for $18,999, US$7,000 lower than expected. Menneto added “We set out to make the power and heritage of this beautiful new bike available at a price point that is competitive and more accessible to people who are looking for authenticity and choice in American motorcycles."

    Indian was cool.

A 4 valve board tracker spitting out of its ports will always be cool to me but I expect a new bike to a50/50 Harley/Kawasaki Drifter mongrel dog pig bike.

Ill be happy if Im wrong but I doubt it.
