    Two new Kiwis have hatched

    Heya guys,
just wanted to share a bit of good news with the rest of the biking community, or at least those who care :-)
After 7.5 years in New Zealand and 1.5 years after submitting the applications, my wifey and I went through the ceremony yesterday,
swore our allegiance to the Queen and became New Zealand citizens.
Yay to us! It is official now - we are staying here for good.

Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true ... they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so all are easier to fool." -- Wizard's First Rule

Nice. The more committed taxpayers New Zealand has, the better.

    Congratulations Mr and Mrs Gerbil.

I used to be a staunch Republican, but lately I am all in favour of the monarchy. Ask me why.

    Why, I hear you cry??!???

    OK, since you asked.

A Republic is fine IN THEORY, but the issue is that who is your head of state? A politician. And politicians should be one of the classes of people excluded from doing anything important. Wny? because the WANT it. and because of that they will do anything to retain it once they have it, and while they have it they only work out how they can keep it longer. So fuck them. Aaron Gilmore, are you listening? there's a politician for you, who after one too many drinks was actually honest. The arselhole should get props for that, at least. And a kick in the slats for being a twat. But that attitude is one all politicians share. He just let the mask slip for a nanosecond.

With the constitutional monarchy however, we have some people who are not politicians, and who don't necessarily want the gig, but they know from day 1 that they have it, and they are educated and inducted and all those things so that they accept their duty, and perform their duty. And that duty is preferable to someone elses naked blind ambition.

MHO. Plus I would totally tap Kate Middleton or even Pippa Middleton

I guess that's why I feel right at home :-). Thankfully New Zealand is such an unspoilt and naive country that we all can afford to remain dumb fucks for a little bit longer.

To be completely honest, I think there is nothing wrong with gerbils,
but personally I find myself attracted to females of homo sapiens. To the point of obsession.
I hope it does not make me a perv :-)
Nota bene, some of the girls participating in the ceremony were exceedingly attractive.

Anyhow, I think there are heaps of things wrong with New Zealand, but as it was wisely mentioned above,
today is not the right time to bring that up.
The ceremony was fun and the dude who was performing a haka in front of us had really put his soul into it.
The gentleman from the local board seemed to be genuinely happy to play his part of the ritual and his
"congratulations, here is your citizenship" didn't sound anything like "oh G-d, I hate this job".
The weather was good and our folks at work have organized a BBQ, albeit for an unrelated reason,
I applied for the passport and managed to get the employer reimburse me for it, and most importantly,
as I discovered this morning, my liver had processed a generous amount of single malt consumed for the occasion
    without noticeable aftereffects.
Life is good, everything else can be worked around.

I will go back to my usual glass-half-empty self tomorrow :-D

Aaron was actually a drunk, full of his own importance who made a twit of himself in public and then tried to cover his rear end. Unfortunately he got outed and then ousted.
